Er, yeah, 'clearly different' indeed! Rolling Eyes

And I'm pretty sure they re-launched a revision logo for the Olympic coverage in 2000, which had the 'E' of Eurosport in lower case. Sure they quietly changed it back to a capital E soon after.

Was it a bit like the eurosport.com logo?

RIght - and they still haven't fixed a problem with the current branding, with the new lot. The word 'British' is still going to be lost with the first star over the word 'Euro'..

Do they still use the "British" tag on-screen on British Eurosport?

Yes - It's branded as British Eurosport, and the DOG on Sky 410 says that - as do the trail voicers.
And 'British' is also used for UK/Ire opt-out overspill coverage on Eurosport2, although sometimes the 'British' isn't over the Eurosport logo and ends up on the opposite side of the screen.

It can vary on BE2 - sometimes, (as right now) it's its own DOG entirely like the main channel, and the word "British" is in blue as on British Eurosport, replacing 2 stars of the main logo. Other times the word British is added on in white over the stars (presumably on coverage that is the same as the European-wide Eurosport 2).

Eurosport HD isn't "British" - sometimes the programming is different to that of British Eurosport.

So what's the difference in this newest version, only white stars and smaller font. Rolling Eyes

They could use a new presentation look too, this one's been used for ages it seems...

Yeah, its not hugely different from the previous one or the one before that. Not sure I like what they've done with the stars, they're barely visible but that might just be on a white background.

Eurosport's presentation has never been very exciting, at least not since 1994. In fact the original 1989 ident was the flashist they ever had.

I very rarely watch the channel - think some of the African Cup of Nations was the last thing I watched on it.

As I mentioned before it's a haven for snooker and pool fans; esp. those who are prejudiced against John Virgo and Dennis Taylor. Its DOG could do with scaling down though, though as I've mentioned it seems to be one of the only places you actually see the full Eurosport logo. The "idents"/stings are just a transparent star.

More than 'sometimes'. British Eurosport is now showing Virginia Wade talking about the Australian Open, the pan-European HD channel is showing a mens third round replay.

The other morning, the Andrew Murray match wasn't shown on the HD channel, I assume it was on British Eurosport.

Definitely remember Eurosport News using that style logo during its existence as a standalone channel, perhaps Eurosport2 as well though I don't recall the main channel ever diverting from the norm.

A nice evolution overall (no real need to reinvent the wheel) but I don't think the visual language problem has been solved. The different services still look tacked on as an after-thought, retaining the cumbersome appearance.

As ever, the proof will be in how it works on screen.

Its only a bit different. People watch the channel for contact anyway so doesn't matter about a logo Confused
