But it also highlights what happens when you merge several sports European Championships under one banner, where each sport has it's own timing and data supplier, different to each other. Unlike the Olympics where Omega do everything.
The Swimming has very nice timing and naming animations, complete with the timing and data company providing it.
I'm guessing the Athletics over in Berlin will have the same, as IIRC, it'll be Seiko driving the timing statistics and graphics.
Track cycling however - just the captions, no animation, and no timing provider caption.
Now, I now the average Joe Punter won't notice the jarring variation of naming and time caption quality, but I do.
Shame someone at the host broadcast didn't spot this and tried to get a consistent approach across the various sports. If you want to be a mini-pan continent Olympics, try and behave like one, with the small things like a consistent set of television graphics and how they are presented via animations and positions on the screen to the viewer.

On virgin the lips are a second or two behind the sound - not sure if its a production fault, a BBC fault or Virgin fault.

Was fine on Freeview.
Couple of things I noticed today where I thought the graphics were actually giving too much info and distracting from the action. Firstly in the cycling pursuit races doing time checks for both teams every 125m meant the clocks were stopped more often than they were running. Doing it once every 250m would have been fine.
Secondly in the really close double skulls final the top 4 was constantly changing, with a graphic indicating this constant change. I think actually letting the pictures rather than the graphics tell the story of the race would be a better viewing experience.

Anyone watching on Eurosport- the sounds is nearly a minute behind the pictures. Is it my virgin box or an Eurosport error?
Update at 20.10- Eurosport have just apologized for faults with the sound.

These events always somewhat ruined IMO once the athletics comes along and begins to dominate coverage, especially when British athletes are stronger elsewhere.
I'm assuming Hatton Cross you don't like the athletics graphics - not only a completely different interpretation, but just not as nice.
