And no, I'm not just getting confused over Eurovision (May 2008)

Hello all!

I know this isn't really television, but it's related. Got an email today from Cameron Mackintosh's office about a new musical called Eurobeat. Yes, they've actually bothered! A musical about the Eurovision song contest!

The web version of the email, which everyone can read :

Apparently, the show's done a little tour, and is landing in the Novello in the West End for ten weeks in September. Amongst the cast are Les Dennis and Mel Giedroyc.

"Oh God, This Show's A Winner!" - Metro. * * * *

"Hilarious... An Epically Delirious Hoot!" - Variety.

"Slick... Instantly, Wonderfully Funny." - The Times. * * * * *

(Sorry if this isn't counted as television related, I thought it could just about be argued into the category)

Enjoy!

Although its not TV related at all, I went and saw this on Monday night (it's at The Lowry, Salford Quays this week) and I thought it was superb, it was spot on taking the mickey out of what you would expect from certain countries. You even vote and they even do the results there and then Live.

I saw it a few weeks ago in Cardiff, it's very funny. It's a cross between Carry On and Eurovision! Laughing

Saw it in Wimbledon. Very good night. Love the voting sequences - they even have the right broadcaster logos (apart from the BBC) on their microphones!

(I guess the BBC didn't release the rights to use their logo?)

It is a very camp night out - and there are enough in-jokes for the most ardent Eurovision fan.

UTV Life did a feature on it last week when it was here in Belfast and got some of the local 'celebs' to help out with the voting sequences! Pamela Ballantine from UTV even pretended to be the UK's BBC presenter which led to a very funny joke between her and her co-presenter afterwards! Did this happen everywhere else?

Indeed so, you could tell I had Irish people sat behind me when I heard a man whoop when they saw the RTÉ One logo on the mic.

It's already been to Australia..I didn't get a chance to go and see it, but Julia Zemiro, who had a leading role in the musical (also an SBS personality) presented in-vision continuity for the two semifinals and probably for the final tonight as well.
