As my former account was not working the last few days so here is my review of Euro 2016 and apologies for the long post.
I think the BBC had brilliant coverage all together, Gary Lineker is still for me the best football host across all broadcasters and they have some excellent stand in hosts such as Mark Chapman and Dan Walker. The BBC punditry was also excellent for me and while ITV clearly had the stand out pundit in Slaven Bilic but the BBC had more strength in depth, I can't think off the top of my head of a bad panel with Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer really raising their game especially after England's exit and Thierry Henry was like a different person on the BBC than on Sky. The BBC commentators were also excellent with Guy Mowbray and Steve Wilson especially having great tournaments although I think Wilson should be number 1 and co-commentators were good but neither BBC nor ITV have a standout co-commentator although I think Murphy had a decent tournament and in my opinion both Gerry Armstrong and Kevin Kilbane actually seemed to be the stand out for them.
On ITV they had a great studio line up for me with Mark Pougatch proving he is a solid pair of hands although unspectacular, it was different from Chiles but don't think Pougatch will be the long term successor for ITV and would be very surprised if Ed Chamberlain isn't brought in at some point in the future. Their punditry was excellent in the most part with Slaven Bilic being excellent during the group and Ian Wright & Lee Dixon being as good as ever, I also think it was inspired for ITV to get Roy Keane & Ryan Giggs for the last few games. I believe ITV commentary is solid again but not spectacular, I believe Sam Matterface & Joe Speight improved on 2014 although I think they are missing Peter Drury and Jon Champion although my favourite commentary for the whole tournament was NI victory over Ukraine with Joe Speight & Ian Dowie with his scream at the end. The co-commentary was better again but not spectacular, I think Glenn Hoddle is better in the studio and I thought Ian Dowie was the best of the lot and Andy Townsend was improved although Tony Pulis and Mark Bowen were poor.
So for me the BBC shade because of strength in depth both in presenters, pundits and commentators but I thoroughly enjoyed both BBC and ITV coverage of Euro 2016.
