With the Eurovision semis and now this, should BBC Four really be a dumping ground for "stuff we didn't think about when closing BBC Three?"

Well Eurovision probably fits into BBC Four better than it did BBC Three, as a multi national cultural event for a channel that has become home to classic Top of the Pops and acclaimed foreign language drama I don't think it's massively out of place.

The sport was never really on format for BBC Three and it was just where they had to default sport to when they needed to put on a linear channel other than One or Two. So BBC Four has just had to accomadats this need.

BBC Four will even be airing coverage from Radio 1's Big Weekend next week. Although they will be showing two bands, Mumford and Sons and Coldplay, that could be said to have a cross-generational appeal, the idea of a partnership between Radio 1 and BBC Four feels somewhat awkward.

Sport on BBC Four, however, is completely out of place and seems to go against everything the channel was set up for. I hope it doesn't get taken over by the Olympics this summer.

I was going to post about this but couldn't find an appropriate thread, and didn't think it warranted a new one.

Radio 1's Big Weekend used to get blanket coverage on BBC Three for a whole weekend plus numerous repeats. Now it's all on the red button only apart from the two programmes mentioned. I wonder who, from the Radio 1 presenters, will be fronting it? Huw Stephens is probably the most BBC4-friendly.

Why not BBC TWO, give it some of it's eclectic mix and edge back?
