Of course the MOD even sold that off eventually to Kingston Communications, and they sold it on to Arquiva or is that NTL as I get confused by all these companies nowadays. Of course it's now the Lottery HQ.
Arqiva I believe - think they inherited via NTL but I might be wrong. However it is no longer the home of the Lottery TV broadcasts. They moved out a while back now, and are at Pinewood I believe. (Presumably that was when they went HD - as Arqiva's studio was SD)
Don't think Arqiva own the entire site - there still seemed to be a military presence when I visited about 5 years or so ago to have a look at their studios.

Yes, the TV Studio History website says that was one reason, and also because the studio, while massively secure, was considered too small and inflexible for their needs.

Here is a 1960 map showing foreign -- including British -- television reception in France at the time:

I recently visited Lausanne, Switzerland, and my hotel was connected to the city's cable system. The channel lineup was one of the most international I've ever seen, as you can see here.
The following British channels were available in my hotel:
Domestic
BBC One (London)
BBC Two (England)
BBC Two HD
CBBC / BBC Three
BBC Four
ITV1 (London)
ITV2
ITV HD
Channel 4 HD
Film4
Channel 5
International
BBC World News
BBC Entertainment
Sky News (International)
As we've discussed (either in this thread or somewhere else), Switzerland is an unusual case in Europe because a Supreme Court decision allows Swiss cable systems to distribute any FTA satellite signal that can be picked up in the country -- hence the availability of British domestic TV channels. (Because of foreign rights issues, British domestic channels are normally only available on cable in countries with a history of over-the-air reception from the UK, namely Ireland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.)
As you can see by following the link above, several more British channels are available to premium-tier subscribers.

Yes, to Astra 2F (I think, I get confused which is which) along with other UK broadcasters.
Though if this is the footprint It doesn't look like they'd have much of a problem down linking it in western Switzerland.
The 907 ones won't be able to be used, not only because they're encrypted but also they're presumably not in a format usable by a regular receiver.
The only other source on satellite of British TV are the BFBS services (can't remember what satellite), which also have Sky Sports content and delayed versions of BBC1 and ITV, again that's encrypted, presumably for their customers
That's interesting, I was aware that in Feb the BBC switched satellite to one with a far tighter beam spot over the UK but avoiding much of Europe.

It was moved to Astra 2E, detailed here

The 27.5w feeds are hit and miss due to the high sr involved, my box simply does not receive the signal it can't cope with low SR's either but somes boxes and PC Cards can cope, but it's still encrypted so it's pointless.
BFBS used to be on 10e I presume it's still there but I've not tried recently, it was encrypted however.

Well, and we really shouldn't be discussing such matters in here, because of legalities, but it's not impossible to
obtain the BISS codes (I'm told)

BFBS's Europe/Middle East broadcasts are on Eutelsat 10A at 10.0E according to Kingofsat
http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-10E.php
Nepali TV is clear, the rest are encrypted.
Does anyone know how much of a "delay" the BBC1/BBC/ITV rebroadcasts are on?

I doubt there will be any legalities since alot of the information is in the public domain.
