BBC-2 has a scheduled closedown at 2.10am tonight, Saturday into the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving News 24 until 4.00am when the first "Learning Zone" programme is scheduled to start. Possibly an engineering test running for an hour or so during this period?
Hopefully some of you night owls out there will data capture what happens tonight on BBC-2 please?

I was led to believe that we would be having Ceefax during this time.

Chances are that this is nothing to do with engineering at all, it's just they have nothing scheduled and News 24 is on BBC1

It is interesting though that the Learning Zone is starting at 4 and not 2 as usual. I wonder why that is and it is probably this which suggests a closedown for engineering works.

Yeah, i agree. It does seem odd that the Learning Zone is starting at 4.00am. It suggests to me that engineering tests might take place on BBC ONE and BBC TWO from 3.00am - 4.00am.

hmm last rebroadcast test was Jan 04 so may well be that

Aren't they cutting back on Learning Zone slots now that the OU have stopped doing programmes for it?

The last engineering tests to take place were in the early hours of Friday 7th January 2005.

On my TV guide I've got it listed as (on BBC2)...
Quote:
1.10-2.10 AM BBC News 24
4.00-6.00 The Learning Zone

Suggests that there is enginering work, as otherwise News 24 would presumably continue until 4am. Unless they are choosing to give us some pages from Ceefax. Laughing

Edit on http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/listings/index.shtml?service_id=4224 it has "2:10 am This is BBC TWO"

When engineering work is taking place can't fillers be used for example Ceefax, N24 etc as some of the above posts suggested that they can't and we would be likely to see a testcard?

Has anybody managed to find any sources of info that confirm that there are engineering tests tonight? Or will we have to watch to see...

No, the usual thing is for BBC2 to carry News 24 until BBC1 closes down, then News 24 crosses over to 1, leaving BBC2 with Ceefax
