These are mostly "secondary channels" for smaller countries
Having localised adverts for countries like Czechia on VH1 Europe would cost more than the received revenues.
BTW in Italy (but even in a few other countries), we also get MTV Hits International, MTV Rocks International (we also used to have MTV Dance Intl)
These used to be the UK versions, but they've been replaced by new Intl versions, which are devoid of any charm, no promos, just music and idents, no ads or promos
So how does that channel make them any money?

Viacom Italy gets enough money from VH1 ( DTT), MTV Italy and MTV Music (Italy), which are all ad-supported
In a not distant past we also used the local Italian versions of MTV Hits, MTV Classic and (indie) MTV Brand New, but, we ended up with just two music channels from MTV, also due to lower pay TV viewership in Italy
Aside from prime time, BTW, aMTV Music Italy and VH1 Italy are pretty similar

So in Italy Viacom just operate two music channels MTV Music and Vh1 as localised Italian versions of these channels and MTV Hits and MTV Rocks are just the European versions broadcast in Italy? (Why are the programs on MTV Music in Italy in English like All Night Sessions/Sunday Sessions?)

The general trend of music channels has been really odd. Back in the 90s, when there was no YouTube or ways of watching music videos on demand, MTV and VH1 were churning out decent quality shows when there was probably more of an audience for bog standard rolling music videos.
Fast forward to now and it’s never been easier to watch the video you want when you want it. I don’t understand who is watching the channels now they have just become a playlist of music videos. You’d think the MTV and VH1 of the 90s would be popular now as we’re lacking decent music programmes.

Why listen to the radio when you can have Spotify? Why watch a linear channel when you've got iPlayer?
Sometimes it's nice to have a selection curated by someone else - you get to enjoy music you might not have thought of, or discover something new.

Yep, I just like to put something on and let someone else do it for me and run it in the background rather than go to the effort of scouring YouTube and the likes for videos.

I get that. But I don’t feel like the music on these channels is “curated”, it feels like a computer is playing it on shuffle.

MTV still have a team of music programmers who create the playlists for each channel, using MusicMaster (http://www.musicmaster.com/).
