TOTP Reloaded finished this morning with no news about whether it will be back or not

CD:UK ends after 8 years on air next Saturday and today started a 2 part look back through the archives including some clips of the Ant and Dec era.

And then finally, Popworld with Simon and Miquita ends in April, although the show is continuing but dropping the sarcastic edge. There is no news yet at who the new presenters will be though.

It really is the end of an era!

Kind of ironic that just one week earlier TOTP Reloaded is also ending and it's uncertain whether it'll come back as it's cheaper for CBBC to do one long Saturday show

Well the slow-motion-highlight-clip ending just now and the "we've had a great time" speech seems to suggest the end of it which is a shame, it was quite watchable and one of those shows where you can see the presenters having a good time.

The rumour is that TOTP Reloaded is not returning, but instead being replaced by a new Saturday Morning Entertainment show from 9 until 12 fronted by Fearne, Sam and Mark, but this is only a rumour at this stage.

Alex Zane is the new host.

With 'Top Of The Pops' on it's last legs too (I'm predicting it will be gone by this time next year) it looks like the end is nigh for terrestrial music TV altogether.

I remember about 1996 totp was in a format that was really watchable, go back to that and you'll save it

I agree that CD:UK may not yet be over - firstly the format is a huge success overseas, i.e. CD:USA etc.....

I have heard a rumour that RTL/Five could be comissioning it !!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Go back to the Britpop/lager lout era in other words? Laughing

The fact is nowadays most music is R&B, hiphop, dance remixes etc which only really work best on video format. With the exception of a few bands i.e. Kaiser Chiefs and the Arctic Monkeys...who would much rather perform at proper concert gigs than perform in a TV studio. Its just a sign of the times. Music has evolved.

So yes, it probably is nearing the end of 'live' music on terrestrial TV.

Re: Popworld - though Simon and Miquita are irreplaceable, one thing to remember is that Popworld isn't just a programme commissioned by C4 - they part-own the brand too.

Looks like they are looking towards more of an emphasis on unsigned bands too with "Popworld Promotes", in which unsigned bands can win an apperance on the show via the C4 music website.

E4 seem to be quite heavily promoting it's album chart show (and getting the guests) - it's being promoted now as late-night Friday TV, rather than Saturday afternoon!
