Julian or Gillian would be perfect for the role! Or even better, both of them part time!

Or maybe, I don't know, they could get a qualified meteorologist to do it...?

Or you can always teach an old dog Julian new tricks!?

Only if you care more for the nostalgia of the 20th century than the practical requirements of the 2020s.

It would be nice to see an injection of new Northern Irish talent.

If I recall Frank wasn't trained in meteorology when he first joined UTV. He was covering the weather or UTV asked him if he fancies doing the weather slot on UTV Live and well all these years later the rest is history.

As for Gillian, We've see her do the weather before, clips of her on Youtube and she comes across very well...she knows UTV and what the viewers want like the back of her hand. Another 'quick win' for UTV taking her back on I say.

Very well put. Julian... now on the UTV weather!

In fairness the job advert states that they have a mix of meteorologists and presenters and the position is open to either background.

I feel like this might be a stupid question but just wondering, Is UTV Life live or pre-recorded?

It would be good to finally have a weather presenter on UTV that actually has an in-depth knowledge of meteorology. It would also be good if there was an in-vision weather presenter for all bulletins, rather than just any old random voice.

That would be achieved also with the weekends joining a hub.

By the way it's edited, the latter.

Not sure why you would think that

Well there's always a voice, so someone is available who you could presumably put in front of a camera. But there doesn't seem to be any pattern, that I've noticed, as to who that voice is.

Seems to be another example of UTV being a bit old school, harking back to the days when getting announcers and random voices to read the weather out, out of vision, was seen as acceptable.
