What a brilliant stuff. Thanks a lot, those recordings seem to be quite rare, don't they?

The final clip shows ITV and C4 programme schedules being shown, that must have been a cock up, I can't recall ever seeing PFC displaying those !!

The choice of music is crass though, when you consider some of the news stories being reported.
I thought that in 1980, and it was no better in 2012.

Extremely anoraky point (I know - so unusual for me...) but notice that there was an era where Pages from Ceefax had much more subtle colouring than the usual 3 primary, 3 secondary plus black and white colour scheme that we were used to.

AIUI it used Level 2 functions to allow user defined colours to be used. Wikipedia (so it must be true) suggests this stopped in 1996.

Personally I miss the old BBC Micro Mode 7 / SAA 5050 typeface which was nicely interlaced and had clever interpolation to smooth out jagged edges.

I assume those examples with the snow and the Christmas tree outside of the safe area are mocks?

Well they're actual broadcasts but the person who posted them on YouTube added the extra graphics.

No I remember seeing the ITV/C4 schedules a lot during the Level 2-era PFC, although towards the end of Level 2's life the schedules became less detailled and incorrect, with lots of Regional Variations on C3.
