Oracle pages were carried by daytime C4 during the 1980s
It was mainly 4-Tel pages, but also ITN's news and weather Oracle pages.
Oracle? I thought ITV never did a version of PFC? Didn't they only use in-vision Teletext for Jobfinder?

TV-am also broadcast Oracle for a shortwhile in 1987 by the looks of it...

Other way round really, the Ceefax pages were only broadcast in short bursts initially, as the Test Card was actually there to perform a function back in the 60s, and 70s. TV repair and servicing fell away during the 80s, consequently there was less and less demand for TCF, so Pages from Ceefax increased its hours.
The music played over PFC and TCF was the same, there wasn't special music for one or the other.
I did think it was rather crass however to be displaying Ceefax (and Oracle) news pages of disaster and mayhem, with silly twee musak to accompany them.
I agree about the musak!
I have heard, though, that Test Card music back in the 70s was much better than the bland music they played over Test Card F in the 80s and 90s. I always recall how dull the music seemed.
I have seen the last ever pages from Ceefax on YouTube - a very sad moment. I can always remember Pages from Ceefax in the mornings in the late 80s and early 90s and I noticed on the last broadcasts that the music was still the same as the music I remember. I also know at least one famous Ceefax tune called "Bart" was played in the last broadcast.
Wasn't Ceefax music also used on the test card in the 80s and 90s? I can sometimes remember the test card switching straight to Ceefax with the same music continuing.

Some of the Tapes played out in the 1980s were fantastic, and not dull what so ever.

The NI changes will have been inserted in Belfast, this is clearly from the main generator in London which feeds all the regions. Nice to see the Ceefax/engineering team giving it one last hurrah before the internal gear was switched off.
Also look at the Yellow fasttext option - the only option visible on a TV set should have been NI.

I don't remember any of these tapes. Although I am no expert on test card music from the Trade Test Transmisson days, wasn't the music back then different and more varied than in the 80s?
I also have a memory of the test card switching staight to Ceefax (always with music of course) but once, the tone was still on the BBC 2 test card for soem reason and then Ceefax came on still with the tone. I imagined this was a mistake, but can anyone else remember?

When I was in Sweden a few years back I did a Freeview tune with my laptop and a DVB-T USB tuner. One of the log file entries for one of the teletext services was 'BBC Scotland'... I'm assuming that SVT or Telenor bought a second hand DVB Text bridge thingummy previously used for text insertion on BBC One or BBC Two Scotland D-Sat (possibly redundant after the move to PQ?)

Ha !! Or possibly the same manufacturer had supplied BBC PQ and SVT with data bridges, but used the PQ config, as a 'get you started' config for SVT. Installation and commissioning engineers do often have no end of configs that they've complied or collected sitting on their lap tops
