So any future "closedown" style announcements will have to be done in front of the BBC News simulcast.

Or, if the news channel isn't on before it, over the closing credits of the last programme... Smile

Yep - noticed that last night - reference to the clocks changing complete with timecheck!

I hate how they crash into and out of the BBC News simulcasts mid-item or even mid-programme.

Does that really matter ? What happens when you normally change channel on your TV !

When anyone changes channel it is of their choice as they have either lost interest in the channel they were watching or have come to the end of a programme. When the Beeb or any broadcaster just cuts away from a programme when it's in full swing it is just unprofessional and shoddy. How would you feel If you're reading something and it didn't get to the.........

Does anyone remember any PfC Christmas tracks? I can remember watching it Christmas morning when I was 5 (because I was getting bored waiting for santa Wink) and there was this one wintry track.

Well, that's the hazard of effectively opting into and out of a programme that's already in progress, and one that continues afterwards.

Another argument for not simulcasting the service in the first place then ?

Just found this on Twitter - apparently it was the last Regional News headline page broadcast on Ceefax in Scotland... and it has a hidden message too (look closely!) http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/full/676834949.jpg?key=464400&Expires=1351639007&Key-Pair-Id=APKAIYVGSUJFNRFZBBTA&Signature=TgXvWgFkMPoMNUkAnFCw4ofeDSrZUOUvr2QbfkXQASWRmqmRaIOnUijlnrkfM4bhORfv2MWwskt5HUDVHFBqgxn5BZXSKx2F~ZDPsZO89LHEaEd746DhudKy1KxY3SGUjuMCi3kzu0OMARM4Vf7GcsQ9gZwzIzy1763yXGOL9Oc_

I have seen the last ever pages from Ceefax on YouTube - a very sad moment. I can always remember Pages from Ceefax in the mornings in the late 80s and early 90s and I noticed on the last broadcasts that the music was still the same as the music I remember. I also know at least one famous Ceefax tune called "Bart" was played in the last broadcast.

Wasn't Ceefax music also used on the test card in the 80s and 90s? I can sometimes remember the test card switching straight to Ceefax with the same music continuing.

Other way round really, the Ceefax pages were only broadcast in short bursts initially, as the Test Card was actually there to perform a function back in the 60s, and 70s. TV repair and servicing fell away during the 80s, consequently there was less and less demand for TCF, so Pages from Ceefax increased its hours.

The music played over PFC and TCF was the same, there wasn't special music for one or the other.

I did think it was rather crass however to be displaying Ceefax (and Oracle) news pages of disaster and mayhem, with silly twee musak to accompany them.
