Level 2 (or is it 2.5?) decoding comes as standard in most-of-all Panasonic LCD sets sold in the last few years, incidentally. Some German Broadcasters use it, perhaps others too.

Yes, I'm sure that's the style of 'in vision' teletext I've seen on some European TV stations in the 90s ?

Is there any reason why BBC TWO couldn't just simulcast BBC Parliament during the night?

Heh, I see they brought out the 1979 ident.
it says it right there! April the 4th of September!
First thing I see is Apr 5th Sept. Anyway, it looks like a spoof to me.

Yes, from the Look Around You DVD.

Yes, I'm sure I remember PFC on 1 and 2 at the same time showing different pages in the 1980s.

Last night, PFC switched from CEEFAX 2 to CEEFAX 1 sometime after 5am. The only time I saw CEEFAX 1 on BBC 2 was during a BBC Scotland opt many years ago.

I should point out that I'm not an avid PFC viewer, however.

Really nice to see some nostalgia, the return of the 1979 BBC2 ident is welcome and sends the service off in style. Well done to Dean Lydiate for that fitting send off.

And a fitting endboard as well! Well done to the designers of that and again for the announcement.

For those who didn't discover the article posted earlier as it had been buried, BBC News Magazine did a fitting send off themselves with an audio slideshow mixing past announcements and having a look at the system itself. Well Done BBC.

I suppose it could, although maybe two duplicated channels on the one MUX might cause bandwidth problems.

Mind you BBC 3/4 aren't doing much that time of night so it shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, it doesn't have to show anything. I'm sure they could knock up something which presented Red Button or website content in a nice way along with music.

Off-topic I know, but if statmuxing really can't cope with too much simulcasting, what happens next time there's a significant obit and "BBC Television from London" mode.

Yup and a truly brilliant spoof in its attention to detail.

A lovely effort from those wanting to give it a good send off this morning. RIP Ceefax, spent many years watching of p302/3 and 606 in the days before the EPG. I guess that was the first time Ceefax 1 has been seen on Network since what, 1997?

I wonder how long the BBC Two barker will last? It seems a bit of a waste of time - I can understand it on BBC HD for HD promotion but surely a caption would just suffice? Does BBC Four still have a closing announcement each night, I wonder if we've lost that on BBC Two too?

Baffling reference of the day has to be from Newsround - a nice history lesson but talk about mentioning something almost the entire audience will never have heard of. One for the mums and dads watching I suppose. Laughing

Surely once BBC HD becomes BBC 2 HD they'll use overnight for more BBC3 and BBC4 HD content, plus the random additional repeats of shows BBC HD currently show.
