When Fort Boyard was on Channel 5 it cost £250,000 per episode to make. However this cost must of come down when Challenge produced their series in 2005.

to £25?

The Crystal Maze is far superior IMO. The big showpiece games in Fort Boyard may be initially more stunning, but they are used over and over again in every series.

At least with The Crystal Maze there were always a good selection of games, all completely changed every series.

In what way is the Challenge version different to the Channel 5 version? Challenge have done a mightily impressive job in my opinion!

The Challenge version had more key games and less clue games the Challenge version also had more of a influence from the French production company Adventure Line. I personly enjoyed this version. Also to correct my mistake eailer it was made in 2003.

The Challenge episodes, apart from being obviously a lot cheaper, are apparently far closer to the French graphics than the C5 episodes were. Challenge episodes put more emphasis on the keys than C5 and less on the clues. Plus in Challenge, they don't work the clue out until the end - on C5 they were able to work it out with about ten minutes to go.

Anyway, Crystal Maze is a tame programme when you compare it to Fort Boyard - the fort is a damn sight harder in the games which are mostly all physical - Crystal introduced a lot of logic and skill puzzles, but then they had the rigmarole of having to make 50 new games every year - Boyard used the same games for years and years, occasionally replacing a couple.

How many shows of Fort Boyard were made does anyone know?

In response to my earlier question, (searching around on the Internet) I believe Channel 5 made 57 Fort Boyards and Challenge made 20 - totalling 77 altogether! That is way above the 50 already suggested earlier in the thread! How come France can make 18 series of this show and we only make 5?

If all these were repeated on Freeview, that would be wicked! Have FTN ever shown the Melinda Messenger episodes in the past?

Don't want to be a downer, but Classic Krypton Factor ends tonight, to be replaced by Fort Boyard next week. Krypton Factor will instead move to a daily slot.

Any earlier series of Krypton confirmed? or will they carry on with the 88 series in the daily slot?
