The 1991 series of Bullseye started last night, with modifications to the set. Jim Bowen referred to it as 'eco-friendly'.

Was it also the first mention of 'BFH - Bus Fare Home'? It hasn't been said in the older repeats.

It was indeed... the audience seemed a bit shocked when they heard it. It was no surprise that the guys decided to take the prizes home with them.

It's strange since most people seem to associate that catchphrase with the show in it's entirety, even though it appeared at the very end. I blame Peter Kay for giving people collective false nostalgia.

Yeah - that's because, in earlier series, the team that got through the question rounds only gambled their prizes at the end. From then, they gambled their prizes and the money they'd won earlier in the show (of course, if they turned it down the other teams always gambled their money).

Also worth mentioning here: In lieu of common speculation on this point there was no obligation for the third team with the least amount of money won to actually take the "score 101 or more in six darts" gamble. Therefore it was perfectly possible (and actually did happen) for a show to end with no gamble. Rare, but it has happened.

Producers wouldn't allow that these days, there seems to be an unwritten rule that someone must needlessly lose money on a gameshow. We can't have people going home happy and content now can we?

Just noticed they left the Contestant Application slide ("closing date 2nd December 1994") on Gladiators.

Probably because it's got a closing date on it which saves them having to edit it out or stick their own caption on it.

Interesting though - send your applications to Cornwall, London Weekend Television process them and film the saga up in Birmingham. Didn't half get around a bit, Gladiators.

Usually Challenge stick a 'Contestant Appeal Now Closed' caption on-screen whenever matter like this occur, especially with newer episodes of Family Fortunes asking us to write into Carlton Television in Nottingham.

I remember when Granada Plus used to show 1980's episodes of Surprise Surprise and they seemed to butcher them to death and say the same thing about the phone lines being closed.

But they only stick a caption up like that because of the way its been originally put together. The appeal runs over the credits in spilt-screen and there's no way of editing this out without making it unwatchable. Normally it'd just get chopped straight out but in the case of Family Fortunes that would leave no credits at all and a very nasty edit.

Somebody on Digital Spy has written that Crystal Maze returns to Ftn on June 11th at 6pm. Have Ftn shown all the Richard O'Brien episodes now barring the kids specials?

Noticed on the first showing of Bullseye the credits were different at the end and i also noticed on them "Star prize provided by Vauxhall Motors"

I don't know if anyone has posted this already, but www.ftn.tv has closed down (now redirects to the Virgin Media TV page).

Edit: Sorry, just noticed it has been mentioned already.
