So Catchphrase returns in 1 week's time!!! I wonder which Roy Walker era they will air first? Hopefully nearer the beginning of the run before the newer logo and theme tune was introduced. Time will tell!

"It's good...but it's not right!"
"5 seconds...here we go!"

Laughing

Moyles used to play this jingle every so often on his afternoon show:

"It's good but it's not the one, Janet you're back in play here's another Catchphrase"

How I miss this show, used to love watching it on a Friday evening on LWT no we have, erm Emmerdale & Coronation Street Rolling Eyes

Looking more modern the 1991 set, no more 70's style white backdrops! Laughing

I remember that style observation round, it only came back to me when the colours lit up under each answer!

And Mastermind style first round Laughing (No more 1970s headphones!)

I found the new scoring system a bit strange though, not allowing joint places anymore. Surely it makes the winners a lot more clear even before the General Knowledge round?

In terms of a presentation point of view:-

Why did they change the appearance of Mr Chips at least 3 times during the run of Catchphrase?

During Roy Walker's era, he moprhed from a pointy looking bright yellow robot - into a darker mustard yellow rounder character. However, the Carlton second version of the titles weren't updated with this new character and still showed the original Mr Chips for several years.

Then, he didn't appear much at all during Nick Weir's short reign. He was then reintroduced in his brighter yellow form again, much like the original, but still not the same.

In the final series with Mark Curry, all 3 versions of Mr Chips appeared which wasn't very consitent in terms of presentation.

Why didn't they just stick with the original well-loved character rather than swapping and changing him all the time? Confused:

According to wikipedia, 1991 is the last series that the "K" introduced each round, what did they replace the K with?

I saw recently that Ftn have started using "Coming Soon" trailers now. Wonders will never cease.

So far, I've seen Teachers (presumably as in late night Channel 4 couple of years back) is coming soon to Ftn and some other programme I cannot remember the name of (it looks like some sort of lifestyle programme that Living might air, I think it might have been "The Warehouse" or something) is also coming soon, presumably in May.

I couldn't tell you, but the 1992 series has a different set of titles that features an average Krypton contestant doing what they'd usually do.

And the 1992 series is the last one Challenge showed, so I don't know what will happen when it gets to that point on Ftn.
