Yes - by Takeshi's Castle.
Thanks, I thought Brekkie was talking about Big Game there but I had it confused. Fortunately I'm a fan of Takeshi's, so much that I have 3 of the 4 seasons downloaded on a hdd somewhere. Most of it unwatched, mind you.

Huh. Is Crystal Maze being replaced or not then?

Sorry, 'unwatched', or 'unwatchable'?

You don't like it, I get that! Everyone's allowed to enjoy some mindless pap every now and then. It probably won't get watched anyway since I wouldn't make the effort to put the disc in just for that show. The fact I have it at all is more to do with my obsessive hoarding of TV shows than anything.

Takeshi's Extreme Elimination (with the American voiceovers) is absolutely hysterical.
The regular one not so much.

MXC (to give its proper US name) was alright, but like Takeshi it's an acquired taste in humour. To their credit they definitely put more effort into the script and even made completely new episodes at American colleges. Wouldn't have killed Flextech to do the same thing, but I guess they prefer the drip feed of revenue from endless repeats.
Breakdown caption fanatics may like to know that FTN's fault slide made an appearance tonight in place of the usual startup menu.

I caught the deep end of the second Ftn episode tonight and Gordon at the end did say make sure to tune in on Monday 28th December for the Grand Final, as I put it on so late I thought it was the Final considering how fast he and the group winner went to the trophy!
On a slightly OT note, Challenge are now showing the 1991 series of Bullseye, that doesn't get shown very often at all, but one of the episodes had a massive edit. It was at the beginning when Jim was talking about how to get onto the show, and all that was cut out for obvious reasons.

They showed the Group A & B finals of Krypton tonight, that flight simulator bought back memories.

The flight simulator became the norm in the later years so it kind of lost its appeal when they started doing it every week, so to speak.
The finals were promoted to a "super simulator" where one got to land a real plane and even a space shuttle and I believe also a bomber was landed by the contestants at some point.
Didn't the John Virgo skit in the Group A final show look terribly dated?

What I notice about Krypton Factor is there is absolutely no backing noise when Gordon is talking. Nowadays (certainly if it was still ITV) you'd have light effects, backing music and audience reactions.
I can definately see this as a show for Dermot Murnaghan weekdays on BBC2.
