Argh!

FTN have just annoyed me

Thought they would show the finals of Heat 1 but no! They just skip straight to the first episode of Heat 2!

Yes - I was going to record the final but then they were on Group B???

How come they have omitted the Group A Final??? Where is the logic in this??? Or will they show all the group finals towards then end of this run?

I agree that its' the time-period stylisation that saves it in that sense though. You could bring it back with only minor cosmetic tweaks and, as long as you got a good presenter (not trying to impersonate ROB, unlike ETP...) it would work, where something like the Krypton Factor would need a serious makeover since it's so much more "of its period".

Agree with The Crystal Maze you would only need cosmetic changes - mainly making the Futuristic zone more futuristic. They could get away with just the same basic layout of the maze - I'd guess they'd go for Aztec, Ocean (which replaced Industrial), Medieval and Futuristic - and just updating the way they link to each zone would make it feel new. Just how slow is that lift? Wink

The lift runs faster in the later series.

Regarding The Crystal Maze, was everyone in the early 90's this ugly?! I mean I haven't seen anyone with even a nice face! And their awful hair! This can't possibly have been fashion?!

It was bizzarely, if you want bad fashion I'd highly recommend you take a look at The Krypton Factor, as usually the contestant has to wear the same colour clothes as their represented colour on the whole show.

Going slightly OT here, but I couldn't help but notice how badly edited Mastermind on Challenge was tonight, fair enough it's a BBC show where they have to fit in the adverts, so they cut out most of the chit chat between the contestants and John Humphries, but rather bizzarely they even cut out some of the general knowledge questions and edited it with a rather nasty swipe effect.

I take it this is their policy when it comes to other BBC shows such as Eggheads?

In a way The Krypton Factor reminds me of Look Around You. Laughing

Sorry, I've not read all this thread, so this might have been mentioned, but I watched Ftn the other night. Aren't their idents and most of the rest of their continuity graphics *terrible*? I mean, really, really, really bad. They're shown up even more by the "Challenge/Bravo/etc presents" stuff (which looks brilliant, and is a great idea).

They badly need a new logo, for a start. It looks so cheap and tacky.

Agreed. If FTN's idents / pres was posted in the Mocks forum, everyone would assume the designer was a troll.

On the whole I think FTN's presentation has been good - it's distinctive and different to most of the other channels on Freeview.

However, it does desperately need replacing as it's been the same since launch.

ISTR it was even worse at launch, the idents didn't even use gradient backgrounds, it was just flat red and yellow stripes. The only unique (and good) feature of FTN pres was the double headed CA team, who would banter about the programmes coming up and actually making reference to storylines etc.

Put The Telly On
FTN currently seem obsessed by putting celebrity poker on late night at the moment. I hope this isn't in line for the replacement of interactive quiz shows! i.e ITV Casino... Rolling Eyes

On a brighter side, I'm still watching The Crystal Maze like I did as a kid when it was first on!

Noticing already some of the minor improvements to the show - such as Richard not commentating on the final part for example.

Must say hate the way the CA constantly refers to contestant being "humiliated" on The Crystal Maze - the only humiliation they're getting is from people watching 17 years later, surely!
