but then with cheap DVDs and iPlayer, is there such a need for the schools programming as it used to be?

doesn;t most schools go out at 5am? and does channel still do school or has that been moved to 5am?

when was the last time BBC made a new schools programme? most of the stuff is either from early 2000 , 90;s or with look and read late 80;s

The death of C4 Schools seems to have been greatly exaggerated - still running in the full 9.30-12noon slot, even if it's with no new programming.

It isn't the end of BBC Schools if they still run it for an hour on a day.

I haven't seen the BBC Learning Zone in a good while, has that programming block been banished?

Nope. Even school programming blocks need a summer holiday y'know Wink

More importantly, does the Learning Zone still use that very fab ident music which seemed to be in use for some epic amount of time? I have some vague memory of waiting to see it so much a good decade ago, I probably picked up most of GCSE Business Studies.

Probably the longest running BBC package at the moment. Wink

It's the only remaining element of the 1997 branding to still be on our screens, no less - that's a real feat!

And as much as I hate DOGs, I do love the fact that seemingly no-one will / can get rid of the Gill Sans 'BBC TWO', either!

The one disappointment with its current use is that, while there are many variations on the Acorn idents to choose from, only the very shortest of these is now used in practically every junction, with the odd rare exception occurring at particular times in the year.

It's been on Summer holidays as said. Since the Open University ended being on BBC Two, the amount of content on the LZ has been dramatically reduced, hence why it's only about 2-3 hours a night, rather than the 6 it used to be.

Again in this day and age using the Internet is far more convienient than recording programmes on TV, face it, Schools TV as we and you know it is dead.

Maybe not but in this age where we are supposed to be going all digital why extend kids programmes on BBC2 when there are already 2 half-day channels dedicated to them?
