I supposed they're going to have to redo the titles then, if the village is to be hit so badly by this storm?

I reckon the titles are in for a revamp anyway as Emmerdale in the past has always refreshed its look after every 4-5 years or so, the last set being outdated by the change to their own village. It'll be five years this Christmas since these titles were introduced, they weren't made in 16:9, merely cropped to that end and for that reason, it may well be that they'll take this opportunity to relaunch.

I wouldn't expect this storm to change the face of the village that much. Remembering how much the set cost, if any buildings are to be lost, they'll be ancillary sets such as the Glover's old house or Andy's farmhouse I'd say. Pulling off something like the chimney stack coming down on the Woolpack is interesting, will it come down the two stories, as far as the bar meaning that needs redone again or will Trisha be upstairs?! So many questions but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Speaking of Emmerdale, there is one of those "Emmerdale - Lust/Must see TV" trailers doing the rounds like the Cain / Charity / Chris one, this time featuring, Andy, his bird & Robert.

If they want to distroy the village, they could get a large piece of land, and then fill it with rubble and half distroyed buildings, and use that for a while. They could then go back to the main set, which would have been slightly changed, and they could pretend that it had been re-built. In a similar way to when the leisure centre was blown up in the Brittas Empire. Does anyone know when the lease on the land that the village is build on ends, because I know that they have to knock down all of the buildings, and return the area to how it was. This could be why they are doing this storyline.

Just becuase the quality has gone downhill does not mean people will stop watching.

So what's the problem then? So long as it's still on, people will watch it. If they could put a jar of mayonnaise on screen for half an hour and people would watch it then ITV would, because it's cheap and gets high ratings. It's your own fault for watching something you don't enjoy.

In regards to this storm, it does sound very exciting - I'm half expecting it to be a half-arsed 'Home and Away Mud Slide' effort, where you don't actually see anything get destroyed, just lots of rain - and in one memorable scene at Alf's house...

Shauna: "What is that noise?"
Ailsa: *gasp*
[Loud crashing noise... camera cuts to next scene].

I doubt they will destroy the whole village because this would be phenomally expensive, as mentioned before! They might just demolish one or two buildings like the pub and centre the action around these. Also, with computer technology, anything is possible!

Here's hoping for a new theme tune and opening titles too!
