The theme is still technically in 4/4. it's just that they've added an extra two bars to each phrase, and straddled each phrase across the barline. Completely inept composition from some idiot trying to be trendy.
I've made a mock which makes the logo appear at the beginning, and longer at the end. I personally think it looks better - what does everyone think? It's only a subtle change but I reckon it works wonders.
That music has no sense of rhythm or timing whatsoever!! It is completely mixed up!? I could mash up some tunes on the keyboard with the timing out or the beats at 3/3 and the music at 4/4 pace and t would make no sense at all. This is what I make of this new Emmerdale tune. It is garbage!
Good God... What have they done? I understand the concept of both visuals and theme, but execution is AWFUL! The music is meh. The last theme had a rhythm and all notes flowed smoothly into eachother (I'm no musician so that's about as best as I can explain I'm afraid). This theme sounds too edited. Yes it's upbeat and also makes it sound more 'classy', but it can still do with some work...
As for the visuals, again I get the concept but it still comes across as very 'mock' to me. The transition effect just makes me want to slap the editor that put the titles together. The speeds are different in the shots so doesn't look constant, and this even happens during the transition. Example at the shot of going through the hall, you see the wipe clearly before it goes through the cupboard at a million mph, then a slide in effect of the other shot which one assumes is an old TV, before it cuts to the Dingles. WTF?!
Anyway, like I said, the idea is good. I rather like the logo too, but yet that reminds me of the Peacocks logo :S (black, not the purple one obviously).
I hope people are remembering here that Mr. Lambie-Nairn himself, Martin Lambie-Nairn, doesn't work for Lambie-Nairn anymore and so I fear future/current output from the company will decrease in quality.
(He now works for Heavenly Branding Agency, who did the current Sky1/2/Atlantic idents)

He didn't create the current Sky1 and 2 idents, they were directed by Guy Soulsby and the real handcrafted chrome dipped 1 was manipulated in post by Moving Picture Company.

He didn't say that Martin Lambie-Nairn did...
I know, but he might be under the impression that he did, as he creatively directed a lot of projects before he left, e.g. BBC News 2008.

Yes but neither Lambie Nairn or Heavenly created the new sky1 idents, it was a different company called thinkmake.
