I watched this tonight because my family wanted it, it was quite good considering ive seen hardly any Emmerdale since about May!

Corrie was better though because it didnt go OTT with weddings and murders etc.

I don't religiously watch Emmerdale, but tonight was fantastic. The best soap of the night for.

Only caught the end which was brilliant, but I have a general deteste for the Christmas Day weddings introduced in soaps over the last few years and also think it's pretty lazy to use a wedding and murder as your Christmas episode rather than using a decent script to get a good hour of content out of the normalities of the day, as Corrie did so successfully tonight.

I feel Emmerdale concentrated more on the wedding rather than it being Christmas Day. We hardly had any scenes at the Woolpack with everyone having lunch.

I dont like weddings on Christmas Day - thats partly why I wasnt keen on Corrie's 2004 Christmas episode. I just doesnt seem right getting married on Christmas Day.

After all the hype over EastEnders, it was Emmerdale and Coronation Street (although I'll save that for the Corrie thread) which shone tonight.

I thought it was fantastically written and produced. Really well done. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Very Happy

Emmerdale really knows the true meaning of the phrase "as camp as Christmas". What with the festive choir theme. Laughing

I met Ken Farrington at the Labour Conference in Manchester in September. I asked him then, have you now finished filming.?.

He said yes but he will be on screen for a bit.

I thought Emmerdale was filmed 3 - 4 weeks in advanceof showing, I think I was being led up the Garden Path. Only Australian Soaps film 3 Months in Advance and most of the Australian Soaps are far better than any British Soap will ever be.

I really loved that choir version of the theme music!

It reminded me of the version used for the Emmerdale adverts earlier in the year with everyone moving really slowly!

The murder episode was all camp and hammed-up but was still enjoyable and funny (was this all intentional?)

I think it was Edna's son who killed him!

I liked the choir singing the theme music, nice touch and a good ending.

just wished the continuity announcer had the same respect and SHUT UP whilst they were singing it. We knew corrie was on afterwards, don't they think we buy tv lisitings magazines

one of these days tv music writers might just get together and stop this ignorant practice of talking over their hard work and effort like it does not matter.

What a good Emmerdale tonight, especially the special christmassy theme music that they used, other soaps don't do that!

The same music, is also on http://emmerdalemurder.itv.com/site/index.php - this version seems to be longer. I also like the way they incorporated it into the Emmerdale theme tune too! (and to also sound christmassy!) Salut Cool

I think I agree with you. Tom King should have gruffly announced his wedding for New Year's Day

Therefore we could have had a proper Christmas episode and this week, and then had the murder storyline starting next Monday

Plus they would have ended up with higher ratings, as you are always going to have the Christmas effect of lower ratings due to more significant competition than an episode of Open All Hours that BBC1 usually put on opposite Emmerdale
