Apart from the incidental music (Does Emmerdale have some music license they have to use?) I thought that was the best episode in a long time. What a twist in the tale. Very Happy

Incidental music was used in late 1986/87, when Dolly Skilbeck's son Graham Lodsworth (Ross Kemp) arrived as a mystery figure in the woods, and a year later I think when Marian Wilks' family returned to Beckindale. Nothing much, just a few Bruton-esque harp trills.

Tonight's episode was great, yet part of me longs for Emmerdale Farm as it was around 1985.

It really was excellent tonight.

Simon, that's the Annie Sugden in you talking, and she's best ignored.

How old should Annie Sugden be now? The Sugdens still mention her.

Emmerdale thriller crushes EastEnders
MediaGuardian.co.uk

ITV1's special hour-long episode of Emmerdale, in which Patsy Kensit's designer-clad bitch Sadie finally got her comeuppance, relegated rival soap EastEnders to its second-worst ever audience last night.

The dramatic climax of the Sadie and Tom kidnapping storyline was watched by almost half of the available TV audience between 7pm and 8pm.

An average of 8.3 million viewers, a 43% audience share, tuned in to see the characters stare death in the face and only one of them emerge to tell the tale.

The second half-hour of the ITV soap had almost double the number of viewers of EastEnders and reduced the BBC1 show to its second-worst audience.

EastEnders was watched by 4.5 million viewers, winning a 23% share - its equal worst ever - between 7.30pm and 8pm, compared with Emmerdale's 8.7 million and 43% share for that half-hour.

The soap's figure came close to its all-time low, which also happened at the hands of an hour-long Emmerdale special earlier this summer.

I'm surprised nobody is discussing this week's gripping Emmerdale storyline?

Maybe because Emmerdale is overrated rubbish and hardly anyone on here watches. I stopped watching 5 months ago and dont miss it one bit and ive heard several people I know say its boring and they are no longer watching.

Dum-de-dum.

If Emmerdale was a drug, i'd be on a comedown right now.

Ha, you soap fanatics really excel at the "pot kettle black" mallarchy. Coronation Street is officially the most over-rated show in the country. Rolling Eyes

I know. We're so fickle. It was really, very good last night though. It really was! I'm quite shocked really, that's why i have to watch it again.

I've always loved Emmerdle and the one thing they have that tops any other soap is the Dingles. They are a dysfunctional, fantasy family. Got to be every scriptwriters dream.

I have been quite dismissive of it recently, last night was a real high.

I do too sometimes long for the old Emmerdale farm. I loved Amos and Jackie Sugden * swoons* Wink

Indeed. Can't say I agree with you on that one Jez.

Weeks?

Did you really mean to use plural or was that an accident?
