Such sad news to read on a Saturday night. She added such warmth, charm and incredible comedy timing to the character of Alice in the Vicar of Dibley, making her the loveable, sweet, but slightly crazy character that many of us loved.

Amazing. I was hoping BBC One would do something and they have done! And they've picked the perfect episode to show too!

I really do like the fact that BBC are now more willing to show their former shows as tributes for its stars of the past who have died. They done the same for Andrew Sachs and Caroline Aherne in the past year or so which a few years ago they didn't seem too willing to do. Rik Mayall for example where though ITV shown The New Statesman in tribute, I don't think the BBC shown The Young Ones or Bottom in tribute at the time.

They did - BBC Two showed an episode of Bottom followed by The Young Ones edition of Comedy Connections.

Is that, perhaps, because they have more repeated filler (such as old Have I Got News For Yous) that they can drop at a moment's notice with pretty much zero impact to viewers?

The post news slot is repeats anyway so it's likely easier to drop a repeat of say Graham Norton and replace it with another repeat.
