Michael Buerk just sent me an e-mail during the regional news tonight at 10.30! I sent him one asking for advice on being a newsreader, and I also asked why he taps his pen on the desk at the beginning of the news. He sent one back saying that it's a nervous habit and asking for my address so that he could send me some information!
God, I'm shaking! This is amazing!

The address is just michael.buerk@bbc.co.uk like all BBC addresses. Maybe I'll get a signed picture, as he said he'll send me a letter with advice. I did say that I'm a big fan!

George Alagiah rang me up at my house during regional news. Thank God my sister didn't answer, she wouldn't know a news presenter if one smaked her on the head! She probably would have said:
'Nick, one of your mates is on the phone' - How degrading! Thank God that didn't happen.
I have had lots of emails from news presenters: Sophie Raworth, Harry Gration and Huw and Fiona Bruce.
There are all so sweet!

I may be wrong but didn't Michael Buerk get a £400k contract from the BBC when there was speculation ITV might be trying to poach him!
