They’ve also enabled Chromecast support on their app.

Interesting comment I've heard as to why no Carriage Deals are in place yet.

Seems that the stumbling block could be the 'right of access' for those who have already signed up. We are in a unique but easily repeatable situation where a broadcaster that has set itself up with their own access relationship with customers is now seeking to add third party interfaces too.

It seems reasonable that someone who's paid for app access would want access to broadcast too, so the broadcast platform owners would have to agree that some users would be allowed free through access as well as any resale sale customers.

If this is the case then it's a right mess to resolve.
dvboy and London Lite gave kudos

Could it not be done similar to how eir (and I presume BT) authorise their Broadband customers to access their channels? For eir Broadband customers they can log into their My eir and enter their Sky viewing card numbers and they will authorise them. I presume it’s similar for BT Broadband customers.

I'm guessing there is a payment that the platform operator (Sky) to provide this service that BT/Eir sport cover. I wonder if Elevent Sports are now having to negotiate this with Virgin and Sky at the moment?

BT's, TT's and Plusnet's access is done using updated tech on-board pre-programmed Common Interface Modules which can be directly addressed by the service provider. It's very much updated On Digital tech. There's no customer initiated logging on process, it being done automatically when plugging in the supplied You View box to the router/hub. Any change to the channels offered being sent to the box by the provider which then has to be accepted on tuning to the new channel (or as BT puts it setting up the channel(s)). The viewer accepting what's offered rather than asking for access to particular services directly.

BT however with it's Box Office channel is changing this process to a hybrid of it's app provided programme/film purchase system. The Channel can be set up without a subscription, but then content has to be requested via the box. If this is not done. the set up is cancelled and set up has to be re-performed for access again.

I had forgotten in my post earlier that BT Sport isn’t free with BT Broadband any more.

although they're usually happy to negotiate on that point - I'm not paying any extra for it with my broadband sub.

the BT Sport Lite pack (Sport 1 & Extra 1) seems to have changed into 'all the channels but for less money' - but there's now an equivalent package for commercial premises, which means if certain sports (most often rugby and Scottish football) are on Sport 2, they'll still also get a Sport 1 simulcast.

Is the “early bird” price now permanent? They seem to be dropping references to it being an early bird offer...

Just had a twitter storm with individuals, who I expect some might not be independent posters, about the lack of Carriage and Native TV Apps nasty in places.

Odd that Eleven has made no reasonable attempt to gain carriage in the UK. They seem to be under the impression that the platform providers should be beating down their door to carry them, not them seeking access to millions of subscribers. Odd business plan.

As for the channels, I have watched the Polish version on DSAT and it seems OK, albeit basic. The multi-language audio options are a good-to-have though.

Last month I tried watching a game on Eleven Sports on Facebook through both the iOS app and the Video app on the Amazon Fire Stick, on both the Video kept dropping out badly. I understand why they may not want to be on Sky or Virgin, but missing out streaming devices/services such as Amazon or Roku is a bit daft.
