Yes, of course for their own careers - was always thus - but what I meant was it's BBC exclusive and they shove it late night BBC Two.
I don't know if you're aware, but Robbie actually launched his come back on The X Factor on ITV more than a week ago.
Why X Factor? Coz that's ITV's big family entertainment show. BBC should be putting proper talent up against it rather than scheduling it late at night on the second channel.
Well the two programmes are very different.
There's not really much to be gained from watching Robbie Williams perform live. I had Electric Proms on in the background here and the songs sounded exactly the same as the album versions, which you can simply download any time or hear on the radio x number of times a week. So on that basis, I don't think the show warrants prime time status. It just wasn't special enough.
Having said that, I always thought the BBC One Sessions were on too late, but the difference there is that the performances usually varied quite a bit from the commercial recordings.
The other point is that Electric Proms isn't really a family entertainment show anyway. It would be more or less like having Later With Jools Holland on at 8pm on a Saturday evening. Wouldn't get many viewers, and the BBC would probably feel the need to dumb the presentation down considerably as well.
