SNL was clearly anti-Trump during his presidency and they continually hit it right every time.

Thing is that nothing apart from those media with an agenda and connections to his party would be anything other than anti-Trump. There was little positive to say about his time in power.

There was also no shortage of things to make comedy about, it was like shooting fish in a barrel

Ironically, 5 Eggheads could end up being made in the same studio at Riverside as House Of Games, as I suspect, now on another channel, and free of being forced to make it in Glasgow.

Isn't House of Games still made in Glasgow, or did that change because of Covid?

Is Vine likely to leave the BBC then or will he still be able to commit to all of this?

I wonder how long it'll take Channel 4 to pick up The Mash Report?

Mash Report has already been poached by someone (before the news today) and it’s not C4.

I wonder if Jeremy had a part to play in getting it back on air. Insisting on a quiz in his next contract perhaps?!

I'd put money on it turning up on Dave. Nish is doing the VO for a bunch of their trailers so I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a home there.

7pm is a bit of a wasteland for Channel 5 as it's mostly repeats but they've started airing new content in that slot lately and it's a good way for them to increase their audience share in that slot but also try out new ideas.

Reading Mr O's Twitter feed, it appeared they started recording a 100+ block of shows at Pacific Quay, then Covid intervened.

They resumed filming during the summer and autumn at Riverside to cut down on the amount of travelling everyone had to do, as at least one celeb of the four was based in or close to London.

Is it confirmed it'll be half an hour, or will they do as commercial channels can't help doing and flesh it out to an hour? I'd have thought it easier to cut the run time than find an extra 15 minutes out of the format, even if it means cutting down to teams of four.

It's 40x30m so it'll lose about 4-5 minutes but that can be achieved by cutting the chat.

You say that, but the BBC have done 45 minute episodes albeit celebrity editions. They’ve then cut those down to 30 mins of 6pm showings and making best of 5 final rounds best of 3.

I think it’s the right call not to extend it out to an hour though.

Yes, I don't think that I've ever seen the Eggheads and thought 'if only Vine waited even longer to reveal the answers'.

I think the comparisons to The Chase are very astute, it had never occured to me until today that The Chase is basically the same premise as the Eggheads - just far better executed in every respect.

Yes, it’s like someone watched Eggheads and asked themselves who do we make this more exciting?

Of course Eggheads producers in turn then tried to rip off The Chase with their spin-off ‘Revenge of the Egghead’. Which was basically The Chase changed a bit to make it different enough but also wasn’t a great format.

If Eggheads decided to move to London, I wouldn't be surprised if they use the Riverside Studios or LH2 which would be very handy for Jeremy Vine.
