Interesting. Quiz shows are a huge business at the moment, but a genre that C5 have largely avoided in recent years.

I’ve never really followed Eggheads. Has it been off BBC Two for a while? I presume it had the House of Games slot before?

It will still air shoulder-peak which Broadcast is classing as before 8pm so I'd guess it'll be on at 7pm unless they're looking at moving the news at 6:30 which I think would probably be unlikely. I wonder what they're pair it with.

I always thought C5 were missing a trick by not having a quiz on at 7pm given that you have a pretty solid block of quizzes from 3pm-7pm across channels that just ends. And with only soaps, news and the One Show in competition they probably could have built a reasonably successful quiz hour at that time long ago.

Eggheads on 5. Quite likely to be shown at 6pm daily.

The way they have treated the Aussie soaps lately is likely to get worse.
My guess is Home and Away will lose its evening showing to cater for this.

They won't air it versus House of Games.

Yeah good point. 7pm would make it a good alternative to The One Show and the soaps - though perhaps that's quite tough competition? Expect it'll do well for Channel 5 though.

I guess the 6pm BBC2 quizzes face not too dissimilar competition - news on two channels, soaps/Simpsons on the other two - and the quizzes still do well so potentially bodes well for a 7pm quiz.

To be honest, I am surprised that anybody would poach Eggheads. It's felt like it was on its way out for years now and was hardly the most dynamic quiz show even at its peak.

Wouldn't be the first time Channel 5 has seen a programme on a slow decline and thought, 'that would be perfect for us'.

Big Brother, Going for Gold, arguably Neighbouras and Home and Away.

I don't see Eggheads being on C5 for the long term...i.e. another 10 years. It feels like its on its last legs anyway. As soon as the novelty wears off of it being on C5, and the ratings drop, in true C5 style it will be axed.

Look how C5 treated Blind Date, big deal at first, novelty wore off, axed and disappeared without a trace, no more repeats on 5Star/Select or anything.
What about that GameNight with Liza Tarbuck (or whatever its called)...moved about the schedule, disappearing from the schedule out of the blue?

I think C5 would have more success bringing back sometime like Weakest Link. It appears Australia Channel Nine are bringing it back, so I can defo feel a UK revival of Weakest Link has gotta be sooner or later.

Maybe BBC Two ditching Eggheads could be making way for Weakest Link on Two again?
