It was the last question in the programme. I did wonder if the CA or a director was watching the end of the show and made the announcement off their own bat, the question was probably a couple of minutes from the end so they may have had time to get whatever permission they would need to do this.

It always used to be the case, and almost certainly still is, that the director and often the announcer would preview the beginning and end of the programme. This was done so they knew what to expect near the end and so credit announcements could be planned. I would have thought that it would have been spotted then, either earlier in the day or before the programme aired

Directors view only the first and last minute of each programme. With a programme like Eggheads that run concurrently, it would have to be a major compliance issue to pull an espisode as it would then in theory throw a whole series out. The announcer can view the programme prior to air, but are not obliged to anymore.

Indeed, it could well have been spotted as it was right at the end but it's no reason to pull the programme
