I read in todays Daily Star (On the Front Page Headline "EASTENDERS AXED") that the BBC may be ready to slash 2 episodes per week to try and save the ailing soap. Apparently, they reckon that the writers are struggling to maintain strong storylines over a four episode per week run. Took 'em long enough to notice didn't it!!!

Another story in the SUN said that the BBC were planning to devise a new soap set up North that could ultimately REPLACE EastEnders.
It's not April 1st is it?

I can see some truth in the Daily Star story - but more likely rather than 4 x 30 min episodes they will have 2 x 60 min episodes a week.

However, if it is true - why not axe the other two weekly episodes as well - please!

As for the Northern Soap - it be suicidal to see it in Manchester!
