I'm pretty sure it's just for this special flashback episode. It wasn't used on tonight's earlier episode.

I like that. If the show ends on a night time shot then they should use that from now on I think.

I didn't realise the 9:30pm special was going to contain a live scene, nice little twist though. Presumably will also conveniently create a talking point tomorrow as some won't have watched that episode ahead of the completely live episode. I liked the night-time title sequence that was used.

Hilarious ending, the writers are ultimately trolling 😂

Clever doing the very last scene live too, presumably it helped keep the twist secret. I loved the reaction of the a announcer (Dean?) at over the end credits, not something you'd have got if it had been delivered on tape

To be fair to EE they did a pretty good job tonight - far better than 5 years ago (probably the last time I watched an entire episode!). They just need to make sure this time they keep the momentum up as EastEnders in recent years has been very good at targeting the key episodes but struggling in between.

I would love to know whats the deal with Kathy.

Hope they keep the night time sequence, far better than the "normal" one.
