[quote="Banksoriginal"]I agree about the Episode not being up to the normal Standard EastEnders set for Episodes such as this but i don't think many people realised what kind of plot this is turning out to be,I know who the killer is and if they write it the right way it could be great.

To be honest, no matter who it was- does anyone really care? There are no decent characters left, no one cares about any of the new characters, so no matter which way they write this it just won't be up to a good standard. I was really looking forward to the Xmas episodes, but after seeing them I don't think I'll be watching again anytime soon.

I agree with this being the final nail in E'Enders coffin- it really should be axed, it's absolute trash. It just gets worse and worse each week. Evil or Very Mad

I agree. Watch an episode from the 1980s, and there are BIG differences.

Also, what's with this pathetic Max and Stacey storyline, I thought Sonia and Naomi was bad but this is just scraping the bottom of the barrel.

People Expect far to much from EastEnders ok i know EastEnders hasn't been the number 1 soap like it used to be a few years back but its worthy of being axed.

I get the feeling people now expect far too much from the show. It seems as though unless its high drama with non stop action all the way though people are criticising every little detail.

None of the other soaps have this problem but then none of the other soaps have ever been as good as EastEnders when on form.

I was bored so much by tonight's episodes that when a clip of Pigeon Street was shown I was actually thking that the BBC should have put 3 back to back episodes on instead - seemed far more entertaining.

The show does not have the characters that the viewers believe in anymore - or is that the problem of the csriptwariters getting the characters totally wrong. If Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Doctors and even River City (thank goodness for regional BBC1's on satellite!) can get the writers to properly write for believable characters - why can't Eastenders????

But it wasn't dramatic - I was so unsympathetic by the ending!!! If the scriptwriters had done a better job I feel that it could have been totaly different - i.e. BETTER. There was just no emotion in that scene either from the plot or from the characters - again unbelievable.

BTW I am not against Eastenders as I do tend to watch most of the UK soaps (except for Doctors as I am at work then and I watch River CIty at the weekends and I watch Hollyoaks Omnibus on a Sunday!!)

Another poor episode. Martin says that Pauline could have been dying when she left the message. DOH! If yer dying, you don't leave bloody voice messages!

This show BADLY needs new writers and directors.

Oh boo hoo, everybody's picking on poor EastEnders.

This sorry excuse for a 'serial drama' should be put out of its misery. Yet another tedious episode.

You're wrong about people expecting too much from the show. I don't want 'non stop high drama' because if the writing is up to scratch then it shouldn't matter. Coronation Street can often get away with an episode that has very little going on because the writing is so good.

The Christmas episodes relied heavily on dialogue but it failed because the dialogue was pants. The writing was just far too poor. There's only one writer who seems capable of writing anything fit for the screen and that's Sarah Phelps, but for a show that goes out four times a week you're going to need more than one good writer.

I don't know, I used to love this show and it pains me to see what a state it's in now. Characters like Pat Butcher are sidelined so we can have more of the Millers. They treat the exit of legendary characters such as Pauline Fowler disgracefully - a huge disservice to the amount of work Wendy put in for over 21 years.

I don't criticise EastEnders for the sake of it. They've produced some great episodes over the past couple of years but the problem is these episodes are few and far between, and going back to an earlier point, the majority of them were written by Sarah Phelps.

Let's hope Diedreck Santer can reinvigorate this show, because Kate certainly hasn't managed to.

...or can it actually be reinvigorated?

My family don't even watch EastEnders anymore.... I mean, they're watching Tonight with Trevor McDonald or regional programming instead of it for the first time in years!

I'm disappointed with Wendy's DigitalSpy interview, I thought she'd be more in-depth with her true feelings about the soap but I don't suppose she had much time.

Is it worth complaining to POV? Or will they sideline that aswell? I suppose, if its still hitting high ratings (I MEAN **** KNOWS WHY!) then they won't take any notice.
