Well...that was disappointing. Sad

Banks, you had me all excited there with that 'BAFTA' comment. It was good, but certainly not BAFTA standard - and dare I say, was overshadowed by the wonderful Emmerdale.

I'm so glad i watched Emmerdale. EastEnders - will i had this expectation as i guess most people did that it would be magical.

It was pretty poor compared to Emmerdale, and even Coronation St. It would have been better to see Pauline attacked by a "figure" or hit over the head. I guess the natual assumption is that her falling to the floor caused her to hemoarege (sp?).

But apparently Rebecca seen something, according the TV mags.

Why does nothing NICE ever happen to anybody at Christmas?

Why does someone always die/leave the Square/end up in tears/make a scene/etc etc etc.

It's just crap! There isn't any area of the UK which I know of that suffers that much hardship!

Put The Telly On
My family and I (hehe) happened to switch the telly box over at the exact point when Pauline fell to the ground. Went out on a wimper I'm afraid - I was even expecting Julia's theme into the end credits! Typical.

Ben's little fireplace joke...was...erm..."funny". Oh and it snowed!

I'm very disappointed, I thought this would have been good, but just turned up to bit a typical EastEnders episode. Couldn't Pauline have gone out a happy way? Sad

if sonia caused it, then it will have repercussions for her. it might even bring back memoies of jamie, with her killing the loved one that killed her former loved one.

Notice the irony:

Ian: "At least you can still speak to Martin! . . . I would give anything to be able to hear my Mum's voice again."?

Interesting that, just like Casualty, they didn't have anything too dramatic, just a slap by Sonia, and relied on dialogue.

I am only a casual viewer of Eastenders and havent really watched it for years now but drop in out when something (alledgelly) important happens.

How disappointed my family and I were.

The whole contrast of people singing and dancing and enjoying themselves in the pub with something bad happening elsewhere has been done to death now (no pun intended)

It was all quite emotionless, obvious and boring.

Pauline slumped to the floor and Betty gave a squeal. Martin eventually found her who used his new degree in medicine to proudly announce that, "she's dead," after he shouted, "Mum," at her a few times and then knew for certain she was dead.

The Christmas episodes of all UK soaps are supposed to be something special - this most certainly was not.

Corrie and Emmerdale really showed Eastenders what a Christmas edition should all be about - Corrie more so.

I hope Harry Hill features Pauline's slump in his TV Burp next week!

Well in the old days of EastEnders you were always guranteed a fantastic Christmas show. This year they failed. I felt sorry for Wendy Richards for that piss poor exit. The scenes between Stacey and Max just made me what to heave. Is he lined up to be the next Dirty Den? And those Vic scenes were not funny at all, the whole cast limited to just a few lines each. Dire, dire, dire!

I hope they deal with Pauline's funeral a little better. No doubt that's when we get Julia Theme. I wonder what Michelle's excuse will be for not turning up? I also wonder if her Irish sister and her brother Kenny in Australia will be there... oh no, the scriptwriters have forgotten about them!

Pictures of the funeral are at DS. This one has something creepy about it.

Pauline's gone! I can't believe it!! So... the 'Fruit Bowel' also died, along with Pauline too! It was nice to hear the dialouge and see a photograph history at the start of Episode 1 yesterday which included Arthur, Mark, Lou, Michelle, Martin, and of course Pauline. (6.30pm, BBC1)

- Yes I was, also kind of expecting this too, but I wonder if they will hold this back for New Year's Day, when the Funeral takes place... Confused:

I found last night's 9pm Christmas Day episode thoroughly unsatisfying.

Yes, I agree, it's an antithesis which simply doesn't excite us anymore, and has become expected, rather than effective.

Absoultely. I found Pauline's death completely ridiculous. In fact, I almost didn't notice her boring collapse into the snow. She has been appearing in Eastenders since its birth, and her on screen death was a misrepresentation of her dedication to both the soap and her acting career.

Cool I think that goes without saying!
