Oh do shut up.

Provide a critique of Eastender’s is partly the reason for the thread and whilst the notion of purely endorsing the semi-skimmed shambles Eastender’s has descended into may be your idea of a discussion group, it is far from mine.

Gavin Scott has ditto'd my views completely and I don't "continue" to watch it, I watch once in a while to see if its improved at all - which it hasn't and I don't think it ever will.

It started going downhill the moment The Ferrieras had their hospital storyline - suddenly viewers complained that the story of Tariq's kidney was going on forever so Louise Berridge (then exec prod) brought new scriptwriters in to try and rectify the soap....that didn't work so Louise Berridge quit and a new exec was brought in. The scriptwriters clearly didn't know where they stood hence continuity went haywire.

Now, numerous exec producers later - we have, as Gavin describes, "monkeys with typewriters" still churning out this rubbish. The problem I see now, is that they do not have soap scriptwriters on the BBC - we have the same type of people who write "short stories" for dramas like Grange Hill and Holby City (with respect to them obviously)writing for EastEnders. Now I say 'respect to them' because that writing has always worked for those type of shows - not EE.

Oh sod it, just bring back Nigel Bates.... Razz

Brilliant episode tonight IMO, Jean Slater always seems to get it right, especially her vocal tones. The only thing that spoilt it for me was Ruby's extremely cheesy ''I'm Jonny Allen's daughter'' comment - how ridiculously wooden but it showed the reason why she is leaving - because she is a useless child actress. Anyway, we don't need to put up with the umpa-loompa anymore. Thank heavens.

Actually, I have found by watching her on-screen, that she is a very good actress, so boo who to you.

As opposed to watching her off-screen?

I stopped watching EastEnders long ago. It is now a shadow of its former self, a total and utter shambles, badly written, directed and with the weakest cast of all the soaps on British TV. If I had it my way I'd award a medal to people who can sit through 30 minutes of the drivel that is EastEnders for two hours every week. They must have the patience of a real saint.

Sorry if that isn't constructive.

Fair Comment pad but you could easily turn that around and say the same about any soap you don't like,As i don't like Hollyoaks,Corrie,Emmer"Daily?"

Anyway yea very good episodes this week,Ruby got a good exit she may be a crap character but she's a nice lass in the real world as you see on scd

I suppose... but Coronation Street certainly is leagues ahead of its nearest rival. The viewing figures and general consensus on forums and the like agrees.
