I take it tonight's episodes were to be separate ones originally? The cut from night time at the Beales to the next day was bloody awful.

I'm surprised they even bothered to edit out the duff-duffers considering how that scene went. Surely it's a big no-no in editing to cut from the night to day in the same room without some sort of cutaway? Separating them with another scene or even a quick morning/outdoor shot would have done.

Yes I watched Eastenders yesterday as I missed it, and the cut from Phil grasping Ian to Ian walking into the room with Jane the next day was pretty awful. I think people who thought Friday's episode was a special might have found this slightly confusing at first!

No-one talking about this week's specials then? I laughed my head off with the Right Said Fred line. It was just completely out of the blue.

I thought yesterday's was pretty good, bit self-indulgent at times but I guess that's what happens when there's only two characters.

A great edition of Eastenders tonight. Well directed and shot albeit some parts of the story were a bit unbelievable. I feel Grant has developed a more mature character whereas Phil is still totally irrational.

The most unbelievable part was Johnny previoisly living all that time in Albert Square when he has ALL that money and is now living a multi-millionaire life-style!

Can the script writers really think we would believe that he would've for-gone all that luxury to stay in Albert Square?

This week is panning out rather well I think. I was expecting loads of fighting from the off but there were a lot of deep moments in tonight's episode. That house if fantastic, I think every home should have a Vodka cupboard! Smile

It's a shame that nowadays were are told the cliffhangers before they happen. Kind of kills the enjoyment a little.

I predict a decent week's viewing figures for the BBC.

Johnnie's office set was lit like a stage production, with huge spotlight beams down the walls and tons of backlighting.

It looked completely incongruous to the rest of the programme.

Anyway... I had to laugh at Phil trying to get into Johnny's house. We see him trying to see if a window is open then during another shot when he's talking to Grant, you can clearly see there is a window slightly open. Laughing

Nowadays, I wish I didn't watch the soap like I do, but, coming from an ex-EE obsessive, I'm always looking for poor continuity.

I have to agree that knowing the storyline (i.e. from the Internet etc) before it has happened, has probably killed off the surprise element with the Mitchell brothers etc. Also, despite what people say, although this looks like an exciting good old Mitchell storyline, EE don't put the effort into the writing like they used to. I don't want to keep on putting a downer on things, but that is the truth.

I suppose its nice seeing the other side of Grant's character more. When Ross Kemp was in the show in the 90's, we were forever only seeing Grant getting annoyed by domestic situations and then seeing him burst - seeing this time after time became repetitively boring (in my view).

Great to see the lovely Ruby back.

What a really nice episode tonight. I found the scenes where Jake shot his brother hard to watch, it was quite emotional.

Off the topic of tonight's episode but I meant to write this a while back. When Stacey once was standing in the Sqaure, she was looking over the iron fence but two spikes were missing. I was just thinking how convenient this was. Sorry, I'm being very random. Anyway it's great to have Ruby back on the square, and her always forgiving her dad storylines have ended.
