Steve Frost, Producer of flagging ITV soap Coronation Street, has blasted EastEnders and its Downs Syndrome storyline. Below is what he told the TV Biz section in the Sun.

Corrie boss Steve Frost has blasted the Down's Syndrome storyline in rival Eastenders.
He said the plot was badly acted by Perry Fenwick & Emma Barton.
They play distraught parents Billy & Honey, whose new born tot petal has Down's.
Frost said: "The storyline is unrealistic. Emma is wooden. Perry's ok but nothing more"

Unrealistic? I'll tell you whats unrealistic Mr Frost. A factory is doubled in size overnight yet theres never any sign of a builder or building work done outside. Cilla Brown being able to afford a holiday after selling a few bits of tat online. The whole Hillman cards storyline which was a complete waste of time because we all knew he was dead. The machinsts all go boozing for their lunch despite strict Health and Safety regulations in the workplace legislation thats supposed to be in order. Not one resident mentioned 9/11. Adam Barlow's hairstyle. The reptetition of Sarah and Jason's storyline, one of the most predictable and boring plots this year.

And you want to talk about bad acting and wooden, I think you should look at your own cast before you start taking a pop at others. Can anyone say, Adam Barlow? Kate Ford? Bill Ward? Three of the most wooden actors in soap today, nevermind just in Corrie.

-------
Its seems to be a big desperate publicity attempt by Corrie press office today, as TV Biz section is dominated with stories of Corrie cast wanting more money, autumn previews, and Corrie sources "warning EastEnders" that Corrie are determined to stay top of the ratings.

He's right. The actress playing "Honey" is dreadful. I'm embarrassed to watch her when I tune in.

Erm, you mean when it was rebuilt after Janice setting fire to the stock room?

Erm, you mean after she's sold half of the house contents and bought a cheapo package holiday with £200 at most?

Erm, DUH! It was always going to be someone else - the question was who. You idiot.

Erm, like Garry and Minty?

Why would they? More to the point, why the hell did EE?

If they are "top of the ratings", then why would you start your piece about them being a "flagging soap"?

Listen Banks, no one is coming round to your house criticising you personally, so stop taking it as such.

EE is garbage. If you can't handle that then I'm afraid it is tough.

Well there's no denying that, but this is a case of pot calling kettle black if ever I saw one. Corrie has got it's fair share of unrealistic story-lines and bad actors. Rolling Eyes For example this post natal depression storyline really should have been given to 2 actors who are able to do such a serious issue justice. Until Corrie boasts less 2D characters performed with more depth and story-lines that don't involve pubs and factories being bought overnight they really can't give it the all high and mighty....because they're really not.

This is from the Mirror
Also EastEnders' Wicks clan was "old-fashioned sterotypes not a proper family." Mr Frost said ITV1's Corrie had great stories such as Jamie's affair with step-mum Frankie.

Yes that storyline really is fantastic,Better then Realife issues Rolling Eyes

But EastEnders boss Kate Harwood said of the BBC1 soap: "We had incredible feedback on our Down's storyline. Fans were moved."
To True,This Storyline really has got people talking about downs,Noones been talking about "postnatal depression" much. Rolling Eyes Jealous?

"Jealous"?

What *are* you talking about? Why would I have any kind of personal reaction to these programmes? It's no skin off my nose if you like EE. I really couldn't care.

The viewing figures speak for themselves, irrespective of what the Executive Producer says about it.

Grow up.

No I'm having a "Discussion" about "EastEnders" read the thread title will you?
I find it ironic because if he was going to slate EE for being badly written and unrealistic, there are plenty of other plots over the year he could have chosen. This one is actually Good.

Me bringing it into a "Corrie bashing excercise" Rolling Eyes

Read a dictionary, will you? A "discussion" means to talk about a subject with someone and tell each other your ideas or opinions.

Whenever anyone does this you become belligerent and combative and turn it into something quite unpleasant.

It isn't necessary for you to cast stones at other programmes just because people don't like what you like.

I'm very tempted to open another EastEnders thread, so that members can express their feelings without fear of you turning it into a Corrie bashing excercise.

Julia Haworth has done this storyline more than justice. Absolutely wonderful actress. I'm definitely not seeing what you're seeing.

Please do Gavin. This thread has steadily descended into nothing more than a farce with Banks acting as if he owns the thread.

Put The Telly On
Right...

Corrie = Yes, has its ups and downs but it keeps consistent storylines so its hardly noticeable to the general viewer. In other words, doesn't need to concentrate on one storyline so badly - other comic elements are thrown in to keep good continuity.

EastEnders = Does NOT keep consistent, IS noticeable and has to cover up using rushed poorly acted, storylines. Comic elements are useless and boring. The Ferriera family and Louise Berridge destroyed EastEnders. Thats the fact I'm afraid.

Banks - you need a warning - I'm sick to death of these constant childish stabs! Either accept other people's views or GO AWAY.
