REMEMBER FOLKS-DOUBLE EPPIE TONIGHT Exclamation

There's also a double episode of EastEnders tonight as well

Confused: I don't get the joke?

Do people here not have a sense of humour?

Can't say I'm looking forward to next week.. It probably all boils down to whether or not you liked the Johnny Allen character..I myself didn't. I never thought he made a convincing gangster - but in that pink sweater it's even more difficult to take him seriously. Rolling Eyes Reviews from critics that have seen it seem to be mixed. Some say it's soap at it's very best, others say it's OTT drawn out crap.

Back to the show in general & in particular Ben Mitchell. You'd have thought that for such a big storyline they'd have cast someone less wooden Rolling Eyes The kids way out of his depth. It's usually wooden kids like him that are replaced by more able actors when their characters are given bigger storylines.

Ben wooden? you are joking right? he was fab lastnight and he is only 9 year old Rolling Eyes

I'm going to be over critical here but with the current writing talent on EastEnders, I reckon next week's Johnny Allen storyline with Phil and Grant will be totally OTT and almost comical. I'm really hoping this isn't the case.

I must agree with you there, he's a lot better at acting then Ian other kids. Bless him. Strange though that he talks all posh like considering our Kath had a strong London accent and he spent most of his life in South Africa.... oops! Wink

Totally agree, the moment Ben set foot in the square I thought he was out of his depth. He is shockingly wooden and yes, he is only nine, but Lucy who is only about 13 is excellent! Ben's voice is just awful and I bet he had pushy parents. I mean how, just HOW, did they give him the part?

9? That probably explains why he sounds as if he's reading his out of a comic Rolling Eyes

Fab? He doesn't give his character any life whatsoever. They could have at least picked someone who could look remotely emotionally confused/hurt. I think fab is too generous.

Ben is supposed to be deaf, I don't know whether Charlie who plays him really deaf but if he isn't the boy deserves a Bafta,I have a Deaf cousin and he says people who are deaf sound a bit monotonous because they cannot pick up the tone in other peoples voices.

It doesn't really matter anyway, he is an outstanding actor and if he really deaf then he deserves even more admiration for overcoming his disability.

So many young actors lack subtlety, this boy is great and his scenes with Minty last night were beautifully written and played by all-I must confess to having a tear in my eye.

It's not just his poor deleivery of the lines. It's also his body language - hs facial expressions and his sighs.

If the kids is really death he's doing a bloody good job making it look like he really isn't Rolling Eyes
