THE BBC triumphed in the battle of the soaps last night.

EastEnders was named best soap for the first time since 2003.

And actor Charlie Clements, who plays Bradley Branning, was named best soap newcomer.

But ITV rival Coronation Street was not left empty-handed.

The show took best soap storyline gong for Johnny Briggs’ portrayal of Mike Baldwin’s Alzheimer’s battle.

Amanda Barrie, who played Mike’s wife Alma, was at the bash to congratulate him.

Bradley Walsh (Danny Baldwin) won best soap actor title and celebrated with EastEnder Barbara Windsor.

Emmerdale also won, with Ursula Holden-Gill (Alice Dingle) landing best soap actress.

Well done to EastEnders again I am shocked as to why Bradley Branning is so popular,Great actor but not someone you normally vote for Confused

ugh... Tonights episode was just cringe-worthy. When will the makers realise that this is a soap and not an unfunny comedy. Honey asking for a 'epsi-doodle' all the time completely ruined the birth, and the 'It's a Girl' sequence just as the baby popped out was Mad .
And for gods sake get rid of that pointless SJ already. No-one likes her - She Leaves - Minty Cries, See their you go, Simple yet very effective.

Whoever says that the soap has found its feet again must need an 'epsi-doodle'. Rolling Eyes

I've been watching for about 6 years but I just don't see the point no more. It dosen't deserve the axe, But lots of characters do & it would be nice to see some of the more popular characters come back for good not just a few months.

If child birth was really like that, i might consider parenting one of my own.
I prefer kittens though!

This soap is just awful now. Tonight's episode showed how far the producers have probably given up. Honey completely ruined any romantacism which is usually associated with child birth. I'm happy they are tackling controversial storylines like
Honey's down-syndrome baby

I haven't liked the past two episodes its had a fair few good moments but the fast pace camara movement i hate,I always have. The Wedding was crap for me (The other 2 we're better)

I tuned in for the last few episodes - and don't you dare start ramming verbal down my throat Banks... I feel like a rant and am entitled to one.

As usual I'm disgusted at what has this soap turned into. Its now a fast-paced silly mess of rubbish, it doesn't even deserve the title of "EastEnders" anymore.

Aside from the awful SJ, just what is the point of Pat Evans now? Oh here's Pat standing over here - oh look she's over there... Honestly its like playing a game of Where's Wally when she's on screen. What a shame.

How predictable of Honey going into labour at the wedding - the 'will they won't they' wedding that has to have had the most boring lead-up in soap history. I mean it seems the scriptwriters are so damn lazy to move onto something else, they decide to 'polish a turd'.

The problem is, with the exception of some awful new arrivals, there are good actors (i.e. Lacey Turner, Perry Fenwick, Steve McFadden to name a few) - just terribly written scripts.

...and this STILL wins Best Soap? Well stick it on CBBC then! Mad

Banks, stop quoting people in your sig. It's pathetic, and boring.

Totally agree and banks, downs-syndrome is very serious indeed and should not be seen as 'spicing' things up. This is a real life issue. I think the scripwriters tackled tonight's episode spot on personally and avoided Honey stealing any sentimentality by NOT getting the name of a word wrong...

It's a full time commitment is Downs and if Enders is going to continue with this storyline then they need to keep it consistent and real. Not sure ' Enders can convincingly pull this off.

That's what my friend said to me too, I can see Honey rejecting the baby.
