Some cracking episodes this week dealing with real life issues yet again,With so much detail about the abortion, that was real hard hitting stuff.
A cracking episode from Mr Ashdown,I do however think ds have gone a little over the top
Oh how the months look so bright

Here we go again with another nutty ex soldier. It's like Grant Mitchell all over again. How predictable. I'm sure the British Army are delighted at the way squaddies are portrayed.
The abortion stuff was very well handled though. Excellent acting from both of them.

A really strong episode of the show tonight. Emmerdale will have beaten EastEnders ratings wise, but EastEnders put up a fight with a powerful and well-acted edition.

Funny you should mention that. Here's something you might like to see from an updated story on Media Guardian.
Emmerdale came out on top once again in a head to head ratings battle with EastEnders last night.
An hour-long special of the ITV1 soap attracted 6.4 million viewers and a 35% share between 7pm and 8pm, according to unofficial overnights.
In the half-hour from 7.30pm, when Emmerdale was head to head with EastEnders, the ITV1 show drew 6 million viewers and a 31% share. EastEnders was watched by 5.8 million viewers and attracted a 30% share.
However, EastEnders' audience rose across the half-hour, while Emmerdale's fell. In the quarter hour from 7.45pm, EastEnders attracted 6.5 million viewers, compared with 5.6 million for Emmerdale.

In an Eastenders thread i'm gonna big up Emmerdale * slaps wrist*
Not even corrie can top Emmerdale in my eyes. The formula is right, there is a balance between the drama and comedy. There are some strong characters who are believable(ish).
Eastenders has never really managed to get the balance right. I like it but it's one of those soaps i can watch once a week and get the general gist of the plot line. The best character Eastenders have is Stacy Slater but her character is on the verge of changing. There is no consitency with 'Enders.

Thanks for that. I'd originally seen the first version earlier today.
However, I still don't understand this bit from Jason Deans' article:
A typo, surely?

That's exactly what I did. At the end of the third part of Emmerdale at 19:45, I switched to EastEnders and stuck with it. It was actually much more entertaining for once.
