Meaning what? That Corrie, Emmerdale and Crossroads are so dire that Eastenders actually looks good compared to them?

What a joke. There's nothing panto about the other soaps. I don't think EE is panto anyway, but I have no idea how the other soaps come under 'panto' either.

I simply can't beleive what I'm seeing tonight.

At just 10 past 8 we see a full on head-butt, and now someone apparently being led to his death as his attacker prepares a NOOSE in some abandoned warehouse.

Just what the hell are they doing? This is DEFINATELY post-watershed material, and its pretty ghastly at that.

I know the show can get violent; but usually we at least get weeks (or months) of justifying build up - like Trevor and Little Mo, or some long running Mitchell fued.

I don't even know who these characters are!

I agree. Far too violent for the time, but also pointless.

Whoever has written this week's four episodes quite frankly needs a good kick up the arse. Not only have the storylines been boring, they've been very hard to follow. I asked myself on several occasions, particularly yesterday's episode, what the hell is going on.

For starters, the golf club storyline was terrible, although fair play to the comedy, such as Jane hijacking a golf cart. But who the hell is that man with the car (the one who was beaten up tonight). He came out of nowhere, leaving the viewers wondering who he was, and all he did on Tuesday's episode was sit in the bar getting p***** reading a newspaper.

But the worst of the lot was Thursday's episode. Sean comes along and hardly says anything for 20 minutes. He was incredibly annoying with this silent attitude, and the actor was dreadful. Then why did Stacey, in the kitchen, suddenly burst into tears and say "I never gave up hoping". Hoping about what?

Tonight's episode was the icing on the cake. Pure violence. Headbutting, hanging from a tree downwards, then letting go so they bash their head on the ground. Totally unacceptable.

Basically, this week has been dreadful. My heart sank last week when I read the Radio Times and saw that the coming storyline was Stacey finding out she was pregnant. I thought it can't be that bad a week, but it's turned out to be fifty times worse. These storylines were not worth going solo (by that I mean just focussing on these and having nothing else).

I'm glad I missed that episode then. I wonder why EastEnders bosses let the scriptwriters go haywire like this, surely there should be some continuity and flow in the scripts.

What I want to know is what the hell has happened to all the main cast? You rarely see Peggy, Pat or the Trumans. Even Phil's turned into a boring Dad. I think the main problem in the show at the moment is that there isn't anyone you can relate too. We don't really care about Minty falling in love with an Aussie scrubber, we couldn't give two sh*ts that Honey & Billy are going to get married AGAIN and we all hope that a gas main explodes outside the Fowlers house simply just to end the tedious Martin, Sonia, Rebecca & Pauline storyline.

And as for all the spare part characters such as Naomi, Gus, Gary, Minty, Charlie, Bloody Big Mo, Joe, "Keef" Miller etc, the cast is far too big and they all need to go.

Rant over! Evil or Very Mad

... And now over to Banks for a rational explanation followed by a look at his Enders Scrapbook and autograph collection!

I've seen worse on channel 5 during the lunchtime and if you watched eastenders we did have build up.

I've got to admit, in recent months I'd just been watching out of habit.

There have been so many times this year when we've heard that EastEnders is back on top form, when it clearly isnt.

I've not watched for the last couple of weeks, once you miss a couple of episodes, it's increasingly less likely that I'd bother tuning in again.

Unless there are some big dramatic storylines lined up, from what we've seen/read, I can't see that there is anything remotely interesting on the horizon.
