EastEnders - General Discussion Thread

I loved all the excuses for why Michelle never came to big events, such as her own brother's funeral and her Mum's wedding.

I hope she isn't killed off either.

I wonder if Wendy will retire now ?

Very much in agreement with Matrix's post from yesterday evening.

They were doing a phone-in on Radio 2 this morning about Pauline's exit. My favourite suggestion was that she might "choke on that lemon she's been sucking for so many years..."

... though I agree, it would be better if she moved away and wasn't actually killed off - or, as Dot would say, killed orff.

Have the BBC not now got the storyline they need that would they could use to bring the show to its end? Use Paulines departure, as a trigger that will see the square been flattened for the 2012 games.

Along with Pauline, Eastenders should be killed off. I tuned in the other day and it was just awful -those annoying Bradley and Stacy characters seem to be on the screen all the time. Why dont they bring back dead characters like Pete and Lou sitting in the background drinking or something but nobody mentioning it.

I say Blow the vic up with everyone in it for paulines funeral, then the camera pans out to the square with Den and Angie laughing at the end. The last show closes with the benny hill theme tune. A fitting end I feel.

I caught the end of EE tonight to see Sonia supposed to be talking behind Rebecca/Chloe's back - only she could clearly see her in Pauline's front room mirror. Honestly! Its often little important things like this that have killed the show.

Ratings will be very interesting for tonight with all the big shows And Emmerdale going head to head with EastEnders again..I think Emmerdale will win with the storyline and all that.


Anyway tonights episode was average compared to yesterdays.Funny how it was mostly the Fowler show today with the news we had yesterday and all that,Shame

Rebecca is an intensely creepy child.

Maybe Sonia couldn't actually see her as perhaps the child has no reflection...

Do Sonia and Martin leave this year or next year? I would think with Pauline now going at Christmas, that they might all go at the same time - Pauline and Martin will leave to go to the States to live with Michelle, Sonia will battle in the lead up to it to try and keep Rebecca with her.
Just an idea, i just hope that she gets a good exit.

I've always maintained it would be worthwhile having Rebecca in an anti-Christ story. Possibly aired around Christmas.

Yes - Sonia plays, initially Mary, then an anti-Christ in the school Nativity Play. Or something.

I had to laugh at the article in today's Mirror saying that ITV beat EastEnders in the soap war. It's so obivous now that people only stick to Emmerdale as it's an hour long edition and then tune into BBC3 for their fix of Enders.

Emmerdale got just a few thousand more than EastEnders, both were in the 5 million bracket. Emmerdale of course hasn't been above 6 million throughout the World Cup period and on some days scrapped in at just 2 million. They forgot to mention that bit of course.

Just proves that both soaps have fallen by the wayside really.

Ooh look an explosion in Emmerdale.... ZZZ!

That is the one thing that really makes my pi$s Boil,I don't Give two monkeys that Emmerdale beat EastEnders by a few thousand (It'll be more tomorrow) the fact that its on 30 minutes before EastEnders gives it a huge advantage plus it has a huge storyline.


The fact that EastEnders still as i understand it has the highest "Lowest" rating for a uk soap proves just how good it is.
