Apparently the Ian charity storyline is the build up to one of EastEnders most contraversial storylines.
Its reported of on DS that Rob Minter will start to 'groom' Lucy Beale. Now i dont know how true this is, i personally think that Rob will either set Ian up for fraud or steal Ian's businesses.

Again, ridiculous though...grooming a small child isn't for television IMO.

If this is true then it is one of the most disturbing ideas for a storyline I can think of.

I'm aware that EE has a history of tackling difficult and controversial themes; but in light of its continuing poor performance this simply reeks of being an "audience grabber".

I cannot imagine the distress this will cause to anyone who has directly or indirectly been involved with such an abhorrent act.

I truly think this is a step too far for EastEnders, and I think it will damage the show.

...if it hasn't already been damaged. I see what your saying though, a public turn off.

Oh for God's sake! Tonight's episode is another bodge job. Minty suddenly decides to leave, Carly's awful acting with Garry and those West Ham tickets...oh.

Actually I do think that, done in the right way, this could be a pretty educational storyline and a very brave one for any broadcaster to tackle.

I work alongside victims of crime and this kind of thing sadly happens far to often in our society. If the outcome of this storyline highlights how this kind of crime builds it may help to educate parents and children,

Maybe, you're probabaly right. I'd find it hard to watch and upsetting though.

On one hand it's good to hear they're finally going back the the gritter story-lines the show has always had an upper-hand at. On the other I'm not sure sure the current girl who plays Lucy is capable of doing justice to such a hard-hitting issue. But we'll see.

I'd be surprised if they go throught with this , and then pull it off. I personally would not like to be the person writing the episodes for the storyline lol.

Here is how i would attempt to do a storyline like this...
Rob becomes a main character, visits the Beale's ect, meetings at the charity events. He'd be taken photos/video at events ect where the whole family are at. Ruby will start to fall for Rob (does he have a family of his own?) and Ruby will start dating him ect, then one night she stays over at his house. In the middle of the night when getting out to go to the toilet, she cant find the toilet, but opens a darkened room - it has pictures of Lucy on the wall. Ruby is horrified, and tries to make an escape, but Rob wakes up and knows that she has seen the room. He takes her hostage, and locks her in the room. He tells her not to worry and says that he's going to get what he wants. Its a race against time, Rob plans to kidnap Lucy - but will Ruby manage to escape in time to save her?

As you can tell im not a script devisor - but its my attempt lol.

Stop with the "lol" its txt spk.

Anyway, a storyline like this will either turn the soap around or completely offend viewers.

Tonights episode ended weirdly, when it was nearing the end it was like they had cut some scenes out.
