BBC mulls extra EastEnders episode
The BBC wants to take EastEnders to five nights a week and is undertaking a feasibility test to assess the impact on the production schedule.

Oh dear. Looks like they're seriously considering it then.

Nice to see our so-called public service broadcaster full of fresh ideas!

If the show can stay to its current standards or higher I'd be all for it going 5 times a week,It would Definitely work well for the bbc.

Last nights episode was wonderful, Great to have Jean back for good..

But an extra episode - where would it go? Once that issue was resolved it would still be half an hour less available for something else. ITV's reasons for soap overkill maybe understandable (if no less lamentable) but the BBC shouldn't be following suit.

It would probably take the Wednesday 8pm slot - a notoriously difficult slot for BBC One to fill.

The could do what Corrie does on a Monday, but instead do it on a Friday?

How? It would disrupt the schedule (unnecessarily so) to have another episode of EastEnders at 9pm. No, the only reason they'd want an extra episode is to put it on a new night, a night that traditionally rates lower than the rest of the week and that's Wednesday night. The only night (bar the weekend) when EastEnders isn't on.

Surely the solution to the Wednesday problem would be to move Holby there.

But the Wednesday 8pm slot is probably weak because The Bill is on ITV1 then?
