Also Saw this in the sun yesterday..

EASTENDERS’ Dr Legg is coming out of retirement.
The GP — played by Leonard Fenton, 80, between 1985 and 1997 — could return later this year, show boss Diederick Santer revealed. He said: “Dr Legg was well-loved. I hope to get him back for at least one episode.”

"Legge is legless.......but he's also quite 'armless.........."

Quote from Doctor Legge during a boozy traditional party in the 'Vic, sometime back in the eighties. Taking the p*ss out of himself. It was the one and only time I ever saw Dr. Legge being less than an honourable, upright citizen. IIRC, it was Lou(ise) Beale's 75th birthday, or something like that.

Those were the days.

Wow, you're turning into Banks.

Put very plainly and based on the general consensus... last night's episode was completely and UTTERLY abysmal. It was so badly structured, the acting was just shockingly dreadful... honestly, it defied belief.

Ok, so the general consenus is last nights episode was extremely bad. Does it make you realise that the past couple of weeks have not been that bad.

Out of all this, i'm going to sound like a hipercrite now but i'm not keen on Kevin at all.

I was looking at the end credits, and the guy who played Jed, is that Dave Gormans brother?

Not sure, it's the same guy who was in Torchwood, this his character was Owen

I'm afraid I thought it was pretty awful too.

In purely dramatic terms it was unnecessary for us to meet "Jed", as he was only a plot device for Kevin to have an epiphany about his life and family.

We know that Jed's function was only to serve as a "realisation" for Kevin as he ended up dead within half an hour with no questions asked, and no follow up.

The meeting between the two men was so unbelievable in the first place. Both were aggressive, belligerent posturing idiots. Are we really to believe that either would have chosen to wander off together to play pool? I don't think so.

I've said this before about EastEnders but they continue to introduce the most unlikeable people and expect me to identify with them in some way. I simply couldn't with Jed.

Pat and Deano's scene, as well as Mo and the arrow was supposed to act as counterpoint to the "dramatic" element of Kevin's story.

Both those stories came up flat because the main thrust of the episode was simply impossible to believe.

The only scenes with any merit were those between Carly and her mother.

"BBC axes EastEnders"

I could easily jump on the bandwagon that EE is bad, blah blah blah. I am glad they did something different tonight, an hour too long maybe, but either way i enjoyed it.

Now everyones entitled to their own opinions so please don't single me out as some troll just because i said i enjoyed the episode tonight. Paranoid - yes, Hopes for a job on EE one day - Maybe

METROPOL MOMENT!!

Really? I never had you down as delusional. Admittedly i didn't watch it properly last night. Inbetween cooking dinner, the laundry etc i caught bits of it but i did hear it. It seemed like a snarlathon and shoutathon last night. I'll watch it properly tomorrow, Sundays are my couch potato days. I think having EE on has become more of a habit these days. One if they don't buck up their ideas i'm going to try and quit. I think the powers that be behind EE should take a risk with getting in some fresh young blood behind the scenes. Not necessarily the actors, they can only work with the material they're given.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if the next episode was something like this:

SCENE 1. MAX AND TANYA'S HOUSE.

MAX: Hi Tanya, I'm going to have egg and chips for lunch today just outside Ian's cafe. Fancy coming?
TANYA: No thankyou Max, I'm going to be hanging out the washing in Mickey's back garden today. It's to make it up to him for knicking £10 of him on Friday 13th October 2006.
MAX: Oh OK.

SCENE 2. WICKS HOUSE.

DEANO: Oh dad you seen me toothbrush? It was in me trouser pocket last time I saw it.
KEVIN: No can do son.
CARLY: WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO CAN DO SON?????!!!!! YOU A BIT FICK??!!!! HE'S YOUR FECKING BOY!!! YER MORONIC PRAT!!!
KEVIN: I'm sorry.
DEANO: Looks like I'll have to buy another toothbrush then. Coming with me to the Minute Mart then? They only sell them for 20 pence in there?
CARLY: OF COURSE I'M NOT DEEEEEANO! I'VE GOT BETTER FINGS TO DO!! LIKE WASHING MY TOES!!
DEANO: Sooory!

SCENE 3. SLATERS

CHARLIE: Oh morning Mo, feeling a bit depressed. That pea that rolled down the back of the settee. Still can't find it! (Charlie then starts crying)
MO: Don't cry Charlie. It'll turn up!
CHARLIE: Will it??!! It'll become lonely, just like my gels!!
MO: Oh look there it is! Sitting on top of the fridge!
CHARLIE: Oh yippee! I still haven't found that plastic fork I lost when I was 10 years old though! (He then starts crying again)

SCENE 4. WICKS.

CARLY: ALRIGHT DEAN, GET YER TOOTHBRUSH??
DEANO: Yeah.
CARLY: GOOD!
DEANO: Oh no!
CARLY: WHAAAATTTT!!
DEANO: I've broken it!!

Dum dum dum dum da da da

Ironically, that sounds like a typical Coronation Street episode with its half hearted attempt to do a comedy/drama.

Also if EE is a truley bad as people say, then surely people would stop watching. Figures have declined all round over TV, so we can't use that excuse. Watch it out of habit? - Well i stoped watching Bad Girls (the last couple of series before it was axed) because it had gone way off track.

Would have been better to have Dr Legg return for Pauline's funeral IMO.

Last night, I went to see a play called "Blame" here in York, which starred the excellent Lindsey Coulson. The way she portrayed her character in the play reminded me of how good she was as Carol Jackson, and how much EastEnders currently lacks good, convincing acting talent.

Ratings don't represent the quality of the show.

EastEnders is bad. There's no if about it.
