I don't think tonight's episode could have been more boring, even if my ex-physics teacher had got her hands on it.

Why are the producers so scared of improving this show? Bring in new writers, get rid of all the actors except for Dot, Jim, Phil, Peggy, Ian and Pat. And if anyone else mentions how great Sarah Phelps is once more I will stick my foot right through this computer.

Bring in refreshing and comedy plots aswell. Bit of a challenge for anyone reading this now: name three interesting plots which have happened since 2003. Yes, THREE. Not one, not two, but THREE. Just try. Go on, it will really get your brain tingling

My brain just died!

Anyhoo just to see if you will really do it... Sarah Phelps is GREAT!

Picture of foot removed as its before the watershed Razz

Heheheh!!! It was well rank!

Eastenders has become a soap that i can take or leave which is a shame, and it has nothing to do with Jamies ( who?) death. The storylines are crap. I could miss it for a month and still catch up on the storyline. ITV lead the way where soaps are concerned. Emmerdale and Corrie have characters that can do humour serious and bland storylines that keep the viewer interesed and make us care about them they are characters with substance. Enders characters are as disposable as my lighter.

Why dont you have ago at writing the scripts, send them of to HQ and presto - we have EastEnders back.

But we're not writers. They are. That's the whole point.

What's gripping about Mo and her fags exactly?

The writing is abysmal, and the acting is worse.

Having said that, I do have a soft spot for May. Embarassed

Nothings meant to be gripping about Mo's fags its comedy and within character,It's like Kirks ant farm in corrie was that gripping? No but it was within character

Oh, that was comedy?

The difference with Kirk's ant farm was that it wasn't the main focus of the episode. It was in a couple of scenes (and it was actually genuinely amusing) but that was it. Compared with Mo's fags, where it was built up yesterday, then we had her caught today, and then we have her up in court on Thursday. I mean talk about flogging a dead horse.

We don't care!

We've heard it all before but if that we're Corrie it would be the funniest thing ever to hit planet earth,Don't you people understand that gets boring?

Take Cilla's Getaway in a scooter last year if that happened in EastEnders the writers would never live it down but because it happened in Carrie on its water under the bridge

With the exception of the tiny handful of characters mentioned (Dot, Jim and Pat), none of the current cast have any redeeming features.

I wouldn't have thought it possible to sustain such unlikeable characters for so long, yet EE has managed it.

There isn't one single character brought in for at least a year who has been anything other than rotten. Before I've even gotten to know their names they are behaving in the most foul manner - affairs, brokered babies, and questionable parentage of nearly everyone.

And I am unable to empathise in any way with any of them. To care about them I would need to believe they are "real", but that is impossible given they appear to be characters extrapolated from the problem pages of Take a Break magazine.

Even Mo's cigarette story failed to deliver what little potential it had. The scene where she is entrapped was so painfully obvious it made Mo look an utter fool - and why should we care if a fool gets rumbled by the Tax man?

I'm disappointed that the show is not showing any signs of improvement.

Haha! I love the way Banks is desperately trying to convince us that "flagging" soap Coronation Street is just as bad as EastEnders. Yeah, its guilty of the old continuity error but...hmmm... not half as bad as that monstrosity.

Coronation Street can get away with tongue-in-cheek humour, mainly because the writers are infinitely better than those at Elstree. EastEnders simply cannot compete. EE used to be best at the drama, but even that has fallen to abysmal standards.

I have to say, May is growing on me she. I hope she stays around for a while because i'm loving her character.

We have to remember that times change, and we are not going to get the typical woman we had 20years ago, Dot, Pat, Pauline ect. I am sort of glad they are keeping up with the times. Jane, Tanya, Stacy, May, Dawn are the top faces of today, and Shirley to a point.

No every story has to be gripping, and Mo's fags is not meant to be a serious storyline, but it does raise the point of what she is doing - which many people do up and down this land is illegal.

People haven't changed in 20 years. The ability of the writers to create well formed, well rounded beleivable characters has though.

I mean what we are seeing on screen is showing the change mirrored in real life, to an extent. We are not going to see the typical Pat, Dot ect.

That said the writing has changed, and changed with the time.

Also it takes years before a character becomes properly accepted with a believeable redeeming feature.

So you're saying that the sharp decline in quality of writing is justifiable by the 'times' changing? How come Corrie hasn't experienced these changing times?
