An explosion at the B'n'B would be just what it needs. The Trumans decide to revamp the B'n'B and give it a new launch. The first guest stay (some of the younger ones), and then at night there is an explosion.

Now that may sound over the top, but it written and directed well it could be a corker.

And tragically, Ben manages to trap himself in the new chimney the Truman's install, and sustains a painful and unavoidable death.

This is all very well but anyone remember the absolutely diabolical fairground collapse from 2004? I was literally holding the TV out the window!

I must admit, EastEnders has SLIGHTLY improved since the 2004 adventure. But only SLIGHTLY.

While we're on the subject though, let's take a trip down memory lane of that fantastic ( Rolling Eyes ) year:

- Martin/Sonia getting married
- The Ferreiras and their thrilling 'Kidneygate' storyline
- Kat/Alfie/Andy
- Fairground disaster in which that memorable war hero Jack wotsitface died
- Nana Moon getting engaged to someone she'd only known for two days
- Den/Kate/Chrissie love affair (3 of the 59 characters who have since left the show)
- Patrick/Yolande adoption storyline

Please feel free to add your fond memories

It's so bad I can't even remember who ''Jack'' is...! Paul Truman's gang-style murder... Chrissie burying Den under the Vic and nobody suspecting anything? In fact, anything to do with Den as his return from the dead heralded a new ''golden'' era of Eastenders so golden it's blinding its viewers elsewhere.

How would an extra episode help the show to recover?

More characters, more storylines, more opportunities...

EastEnders would have to increase its production crew & team by 50% to cope with the demand of what is asked. The BBC would give them extra funding in order to get the best team going. This means they would have a much larger team than what is currently in place.

It could kill the soap but it could more then likely save it

Yes 22 years! Here are just some of my good memories (and bad ones):

GOOD:
- Everything about Den and Angie (especially divorce papers)
- Sharongate
- Kat/Zoe mother/daughter storyline
- Trevor/Little Mo abuse storyline
- Phil/Grant plunge into the Thames
- Saskia Duncan's death

BAD:
- Practically everything from 2004-2007 so far (except for Den's death)
- Den Watts return (brilliant character, but poor writing let him down)
- Little Mo raped again
- Ian/Garry/Laura baby thing

And many more!

Was there any ever mention of Reg Cox after the first episode? I'm surprised a distant relative of his has never shown up in the Square.

Yeh, I agree with Saskia's death. It was quite new for a soap to handle such a storyline and it was produced in such a fantastic way, with amazing actors.

Um... haven't we just discussed the fact the cast is already far too big, why the hell do we want more characters?
