Ross Kemp will not be making a return to EastEnders in the near future - because he has signed up for another series of ITV's Ultimate Force, The People claims today.

EastEnders producers offered Kemp (Grant Mitchell) a £500,000 contract to return to the soap alongside on-screen brother Phil and mother Peggy.

However, Kemp was offered the same salary to film another six-part series of Ultimate Force, and has now decided to accept the deal.

"Everyone here is over the moon," an ITV source told the newspaper. "It's no secret how badly we wanted to keep him."

The actor has not ruled out returning to the soap eventually, however.

"Ross hasn't turned his back on the show - he wants to see how things shape up in the next few months," a friend explained. "He wouldn't want to re-join if the scripts weren't a turn-on for viewers."

A spokeswoman for ITV confirmed, "We are delighted Ross Kemp has signed up to another series of Ultimate Force."

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but I expected this all along.

Well that's convenient. They decide to show the final episode after they sign him for another series. Somehow I don't think they meant to show this episode some time in the future after they pulled it off the air just before the final episode aired. Cool

EastEnders actress Kacey Ainsworth has landed a role on Desperate Housewives.

The star, who plays Little Mo in the BBC soap, will join the cast of the US drama in its upcoming second season. Her part as a British nanny, possibly to Lynette Scavo's children, will run over three episodes.

News of the move was let slip by her costar Shane Richie (Alfie Moon) at last weekend's British Soap Awards.

When asked about the part, a shocked Ainsworth replied: "You're not meant to know about that."

Well, good for her. Very Happy

I been slowly drawn back into Enders after lull following Den's demise. I think the writing is becoming much better and storylines are slowly beginning to build.

I think the show will benefit from the likes of Kat and Peggy's return. Still not sure about Phil coming back however, I'd rather have Grizzly Grant.

Also great to hear that Sharon & Dennis are heading back too. Sounds like there are some great storylines to come.

Most of the dead wood has now be chopped, still Gus and Nana Moon to go however! Wink

Can't say I'm looking forward to Sharon returning. Letitia Dean is a terrible actress! Mad

Sometimes I think she thinks she's in Dynasty with all that pouting and hair flicking. No doubt she'll come back with a complete different hairstyle!
