This can't be right, but I read an article on Digital Spy where Kim Medcalf was talking about leaving the show, and it says that she films her final scenes in May. Yet the final scenes will not be aired until November. They don't film 6 months in advance do they? Full article below:

Medcalf speaks about quitting 'Enders

This is a general discussion thread and it would be better if people post all EastEnders information or opinions in this thread. Thank You. Very Happy

EDIT: If the Corrie fans can do it, so can we.

The age old TV Forum problem of getting the balance between multiple threads and "generic" threads correct.

I thing with EE currently is most comment is negative - and when I post my views on EastEnders here I'm general blasted for continuing with my "East End It" rants.

P.S. Still not watching!

Surely they should learn from the Dity Den mistakes of raking up past charachters and concentrate on new families etc??

why bring the Mitchells back?? i know they were popular, but does the show need more criminals/thuggery/gang wars??

i doubt it. thats the main problem!

I know the show hasnt been known for comedy like Corrie has but perhaps they should lighten it up a bit.

ps-how unlikely was the billy/sasha sex story??

Were my ears deceiving me watching the omnibus on Sunday, or was Martin Fowler watching Channel Report?!?

In one of the scenes on the episode shown on Thursday in the Fowler front room, at the end of the scene you could hear the Channel Report theme...

Probably points to the fact that Channel Report used crappy library music for their theme - I've heard that tune on a million spoof news reports on other shows!

Nice to see they've finally stopped using the UK Today/Newsroom South East theme all the time. For a while everyone always seemed to be watching the Weakest Link too...

Similar to the other threads on comments made by new BBC1 controller, Peter Fincham.

The new controller of BBC1 today signalled an end to more soaps in favour of original dramas, arts programmes and comedy.

He indicated a shakeup for EastEnders with a new time slot. He said it was "unlikely" that BBC1 would commission another major soap.

He said struggling BBC1 soap EastEnders is "an absolutely crucial part of the BBC1 schedule and will continue to be. Of course we've got to find the right place in the schedule for it. We live in a moving world where all schedules move."

Not gonna axe it then - shame!

I think the rescheduling won't amount to much - the Monday episode benefits from filling Corrie's sandwich.

The only thing I could see them doing is axing the Friday episode and having a double episode Corrie style on Thursdays at 7.30 / 8.30.

The New controller is rumoured to be bringing in some major changes to the channel, and after the HANDY HEGGESSEY years im quite looking forward to seeing what he's got plannned. Eastenders does now need a fixed slot throughout the week and possibly cut back to three episodes a week again.
Oh and on another note im been told he hates the Dancers............ Laughing

I doubt it, there's no logic in that. ITV do it because they know that people switch over to watch EE after Corrie and the only way to bring back the viewers for their 9pm offering is to have a double episode.
